Payment Question

When I had my ortho consultation, the ortho said I would need my braces on for between a year to a year and a half. Obviously, I am hoping it will be a year, but when I went to make my first payment (my insurance is paying half and we're paying the other half), I noticed the coupon book for the paym...

I think you're all right -- the no-no list is mainly for kids.

Wow, that's so interesting! At my age (46), I need all the help I can get as people CONSTANTLY tell me, "You know, it takes longer when you have braces as an adult because your teeth don't move as quickly as a kid's." Thanks so much for the research, KK! Erin

Heat Activated Wire Question

Now that I'm learning all the ins and outs about braces, I've learned about heat activated wire. I think I may have it as my braces feel a bit tighter after I drink a hot beverage. I know this probably sounds stupid, but would it help speed things up a little if I drank more tea during the day? Than...

When you all eat pizza, do you only eat cheese pizza? I imagine some toppings might be easier on the braces than others. Anyone have any experience with them? Also, do you all eat thin crust? Thick crust (or pan pizza) seems very bready and that might be easier to chew. Pizza is a weekly staple in o...

Just tried it and it was very soothing! Made my braces feel tighter too for some reason. Does that happen to you?

Okay, so you use this rinse even when they aren't sore, right?

Okay, I did eat the pizza and it went much better than I thought it would! I cut it into little pieces and it was pretty cheesy, so it was quite soft.

Okay ... you've convinced me to try it! How much salt and how much water?

Thanks!

Thankfully, I haven't need to use the wax or salt water yet. The other day, my mouth felt pretty sore, but it wasn't unbearable. I popped a couple Advil and felt better. Today, it's feeling better, so hopefully, I'm over the hump!

Pizza

I know we're not supposed to eat pizza crusts, but it's okay to eat the middle pieces, isn't it? I mean I don't know how I'm going to do that yet as I've only been braced a week and mac & cheese is about what I'm living on -- not because it's painful, but just because it feels weird to eat. Anyw...

Ceramics Question

Hi! I got braced about a week ago -- ceramics on top and metal on the bottom. I'm having the predictable cheek and tongue soreness that comes with new braces, but I've only noticed it along the bottom lip and the bottom half of my cheeks. Are the ceramic braces smoother and easier to get used to or ...

Loose Tooth

One of my molars is loose this morning. I'm so excited! I worried that because of my age (46), they would need blasting caps to loosen my teeth! I got braced one week ago, so this is a good sign I take it. At any rate, I'm happy to know progress is being made! Erin
