I've only had mine one month (I'm in my 30s), and I haven't yet had anyone assume this isn't the first time. We shall see... Whenever I saw an adult with braces (I haven't seen many), I always thought it was cool! I used to be envious too; now I don't have to be.

I had 2 extractions last week (one for ortho, one because of a fracture and tooth could not accept a crown post). My tx time is 18-24 months. I had another consult several years ago by a different doctor who wanted to remove FOUR teeth and gave me a tx time of at least 36 months. I'm glad I waited! ...

Wow, I admire you, Victory! How tempting to be finally (almost) getting your braces off, but insisting on keeping them until you are happy with the results. I hope the other doctor is more professional. Good luck!

Oh wow, that's interesting. It's been almost 2 weeks and my molars still don't touch. I'm calling my ortho tomorrow.... I wonder if I'll need any of these devices?!

What the heck--- my 38 turned into a Smiley with shades!!

I know I will be happy to wear my retainer when the time finally comes... think about how long you have waited to have perfect teeth (I'm 38). That should help! I just got mine yesterday; the top fronts (10 brackets) and the bottom fronts (six) are ceramic- the rest are metal. Good luck with your decision!
