Wow, I never thought about a waterpik but you guys have convinced me! Today a woman at work today recommended it when she saw me in the restroom picking pieces of my co-workers birthday cake out of my brackets. What brand exactly do you guys have? Looking online, Target does not have the Waterpik br...

Yeah, weird! I wonder what the orthos' reasonings are behind each the different orders of placemen. I'll ask in my next appointment. Rmwolf83, So you didn't need spacers? They put the molar bands on right away? I hate them even more than the brackets and wires, I think. They're ripping my tongue to ...

Thanks all...Sjsarre, was it in the bun, and everything?!? Congrats! I figure the meat patty itself, cut up wouldn't be that bad to chew, if cooked right. Veggie burgers are a little tougher...ohhhh,that sounds sooo good to me right now...I'm so sick of soup! Linda, I'm going to go with the pink on ...

Yay, so it was the same day, Katiari! Mine too, no problem with the wires but the molar bands are ripping my tongue to shreds...I'm going to try to get that adjusted this week. You have a pic up? I want to watch how you're progressing. Unless yours move faster, then I'll be jealous :) jk... And yes,...

Katiari, July 20 or 21? I'm July 21...I wanna join the club! :) My real birthday is coming in mid-August, so I have 2 b-day's to celebrate in the next few weeks. I'm surprised at how long it takes some people to get things going. From the time I said I wanted to go ahead (met the ortho - he poked ar...

hehe...I hear you on that! I'm still amazed at the amount of food that gets stuck in these things! I just got the wires on Friday...my best friend called yesterday, as I was beginning a bowl of noodles, and I (seriously) told her that I've already taken two bites and don't think I've swallowed anyth...

I had the spacers for two weeks and didn't floss those teeth, as I was told...they were in so tight though, I'm sure no food made it in there! A few days break, won't hurt. My boyfriend is 28, and he was my biggest encouragement in following through with this. He had braces when he was a teenager, a...

Thanks, Karen! I started my salt rinses this morning. I remember they told me to do that when I had my wisdom teeth out for the same healing effect, I'm sure. Yes, the cleats are pretty nasty, but it also seems when they bent it to fit my tooth, the bottom edge jutted out and is positioned there lik...

i went with ceramic on top, metal on bottom and i'm really happy with that. they're a bit more abrasive, but much less noticable. my doc never told me that they take longer. Even so, my top is in pretty good shape (presumably will move quickly anyway), and the bottom is bad, so in this case, I can't...

my doc said the same thing, and that it's due to the acid created by carbonation, the same as in acid rain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbonation)...he said it wears on the brackets and adhesive. i don't drink soda, but i like mineral water, so it stinks to have to limit that. and then there's be...

i felt the same thing...i was certain a tooth would come flying out especially with the pulling they had to do when putting on and taking off the spacers. i asked the assistant if that ever happened, and she said yes, once, but it was a baby tooth on a kid. she said the adult teeth are so well-ancho...

I use the ortho manual toothbrush from the starter kit for about one minute to get the food out, then the sonicare advance (i think?--$60 at target) for the 2 min. cycle. i bought it a few months ago and didn't use it often (the handle is a little unwieldy--i think the more expensive ones have slimm...

Brackets on first...
Just wondering if anyone else had their brackets put on first (along with spacers), then the wires and molar bands some time later? It doesn't seem that common, from the posts I've read. I don't know if my ortho office was just trying to save time...why not wait to put the brackets on along with eve...
