Is this true in every case? How sho...

Are Waterpiks really important?

I have been reading the odd post saying that Waterpiks have been used with braces. However, my ortho never reccomended one. He said brush after every meal, floss daily, use salt water rinses, maintain good oral hygene, etc.

Is it really important to have a Waterpik?

samantha_lou , I must say, your process is amazing. One of the best expander journeys I have ever seen. My ortho casually (yes, he just mentioned it as I was leaving) said that I should have an expander during my next adjustment. I don't really mind it, I am just worried about my speech. Will I be ...

I only had my spacers in for 6 days, and 2 of them fell out within the 3rd day. Rest assured, my molar bands fit with ease.

Re flossing bracketed ... it's time consuming I agree ... but think of it this way ... not only does it help keep your breath fresh, it's the main way to look after your gums and prevent gum disease. Gums hold your teeth ... do you really want to go through ortho treatment, to develop gum disease a...

Two things you're proud of / not proud of.

Two things I'm proud of:
-I've never had to use wax. (Sucks, because I have 3 containers of it)
-I always brush at least twice a day.

Two things I'm not proud of:
-I hardly ever use salt water rinses.
-I rarely floss. (I find it way too time consuming)

@Chris: Yes, my ortho did the extractions. Is that not normal? @KK: Yes, thanks for your reply. I bet there is a treatment plan, and I really overreacted. It's just that I always invisioned having that four teeth arch, and now it will be three. I am just angry that my ortho never mentioned an inciso...

ORTHO made a mistake?! Oddly placed extractions?

Okay so I am really worried right now. My braces progress was going okay, but then on Wednesday, my ortho said he would have to extract two teeth. I assumed it would be a bicuspid or something. But he extracted two teeth that were in different locations, and the result really really scares me. Below...

No, they are not poisonous at all.
However, a very small percentage of patients (a single decimal number) will have hypersensitivity to metals in orthodontics. Talk to your doctor about having any allergic reactions to nickle, or other metals. In any case, you will most likely be fine.

I drink about 2 bottles of pop a day, I won't stop. I have great oral hygiene, and if by some chance it causes a bracket or something to pop off, who cares. I pay $5000 for this treatment, if they have to see me now and then to glue something back on then so be it.
That's the spirit! :biglaf:

Well considering you can clean out your car engine with a can of Coke - it just shows the acidity and corrosive nature of the liquid in metals. But I think the main reason is because of the overal hygiene of your teeth. Sugar trapped inside of braces can grow and cause cavities, especially if not lo...

Ortho keeping wisdom teeth? Extraction after being braced?

Hello. My ortho extracted 4 teeth - mostly the bicuspids. However, he didn't touch my wisdom teeth. Is it normal to not extract them? Also, he added my first filling on my one of my back wisdom teeth, also proving he isn't planning to extract it. Doesn't most people who get braces have their wisdom ...
