I always wrote a list of things to ask my ortho. They were always happy to oblige a adult who took a active approach to their treatment.

Help with snoring

   Does anyone know of a good anti-snore device that is retainer friendly? During the time I was in braces my snoring subsided but in the six months or so since it has taken off.I think was has happened is that my retainer takes up the extra space in my mouth that my braces made. M...

Broken Retainer

This past Sunday night while putting in my retainer I noticed one of the spacing wires on the left side was broken. I snipped the little bugger off and went to the Ortho on Monday after work to have it looked at. They took it to the back and asked me to come back on Tuesday after work to give the Or...

I got to keep my lowers because they were metal but my upers were tossed because they came off in pieces because they were ceramic. Don't have a clue as to why I wanted them for maybe just to remind myself of what I did.

I went to Walmart and hogged out on all the goodies I stopped eating with braces like licorice, caramel apples, popped corn. Anything sticky I could get my hands on!

I had 3 molar bands put on after repeated attempts at regluing some brackets failed. All 3 were on crowns that were out of alingment compared to the other teeth. I suspect just the pressure of the wire on the brackets made them pop off. After the bands went on the teeth came into line rather quickly.

The only thing I can think of is maybe your ortho maybe wants your archwire to contract a little than reactivate. Since cold makes things contract and heat makes things expand maybe he thinks by doing this the root of your teeth will respond to treatment a little easier. Just a thought.

My ortho's office TOLD me to chew LOTS of gum but to make sure that it was sugarfree. They told me chewing gum encourages blood flow which in turn promotes root growth and saliva that keeps your mouth from getting too dry.

I asked for steel ties in the beginning of my treatment and I really liked the way they looked as they had a very clean look to them with the clear brackets. As I got more adventuresome I went with colored ligs.

I bought the Dentakit just before being braced myself and really liked it. I suppose I could have gone to Walgreens and bought the majority of items in the kit , but it was nice to have everything together in one place. I also bought the braces bumpers from Dentakit , they were fantastic since they ...

Buy yourself a Dentakit from Lynn. It has basically everything you need. I used mine in the wilds of Wyoming last year and its compact.
