I have six weeks to go, and wearing what my ortho calls spaghetti elastics where the bands are intertwined throughout my whole mouth connecting the top and bottom brackets. Night time only - 8 hours. About three days after beginning this, my left parotid gland balooned to the size of a golf ball. I ...

I had molar bonding, and believe me you will get used to them. It feels weird for a few weeks, for sure.

Braces off in November...

I will be wearing what the Ortho calls "spaghetti elastics" starting in August for twelve weeks where, from what I understand, rubber bands will be intertwined throughout my whole mouth connecting both upper and lower teeth. Apparently this is the last stage of treatment, and sounds compli...

Great point Betty, I have wondered the same thing. I appreciate your input KIWI, and I have used salt water rinses in the past, but find it has no effect on the actual pain one feels from the actual moving of the teeth in the jawbone. That is the pain I am referring to in my first post. Salt water r...

Wow! My Teeth Hurt...

Fourth adjustment yesterday, and got those wonderful elastics. Diagonally both sides upper front to lower back 24-7, and an elastic in front diagonally upper left to lower right (at night only) to correct about an eighth of an inch mis-alignment. Needless to say I couldn't sleep last night and Tylen...

36 male here and have scarlet and grey alternating ligs for my beloved Buckeyes. I get razzed by buddies but could care less. Females seem to think they add to my smile....

Newmetal, I had my first adjustment today, and everything was smooth as silk. I have ceramics top and bottom, and today my ortho looked over my mouth to see how the first 8 weeks went, and told the tech what he wanted done. I had both upper and lower archwires replaced, and at my request, went with ...

I had the same problem when I got braced in late August. My ortho simply put a ball of some gritty material on two molars opposite each other and used blue light or something to cement it. I can't bite down all the way preventing my top front teeth from chomping my lower brackets. Takes some getting...

I got ceramic uppers and lowers 10 days ago because I'm being charged the same price as metal and for aesthetic value. I don't think my predicted 12 month treatment time would really matter if I had metal, give or take a few weeks. No staining so far, and I've got clear ligs. They are so small I onl...

Well I get mine on tomorrow morning at 8AM (Tues. Aug 29) and plan on getting scarlet and grey ligs, so let's all enjoy our Big 10 colors.... Anyways, the end will justify the means, at least that's how I try to view it.

It's nice to know there are some older gentlemen out there taking the brace plunge. At 36 myself, I felt somewhat skittish about my second go around. I am anxiously awaiting the 29th of August for my ceramics (upper and lower) and 12-16 months of treatment time. Best of luck to you guys....
