Re: Pregnancy and surgery

Just wanted to provide an update for the forum. It has been over two years since my surgery and I am now 30 years old. I did not end up getting pregnant before my surgery luckily enough, and everything went without a hitch. However, I did struggle with conception for almost 2 years and am now pregna...

I got my top braces off this morning. As soon as they were off, they did the mold for that arch. I go back this afternoon to pick up the top retainer and removal of the bottom braces. The bottom arch will be retained by a permanent retainer.

You were able to once again "perform" on your man? I had lower jaw advancement surgery two weeks ago and am recovering very well. However, my range of motion is lacking at this point. I'm about 1.5 fingers wide. I've been doing my jaw exercises for improvement. I'm scared to try anything a...

This numbness has turn into PAIN. I spoke with the doctor about it and I found out that it is a Freaking LONG needle that they give you (usually in the buttocks) for pain right after the surgery. I'm telling you, I can't even sleep on my right side because it is so annoying. Hope this goes away soon!!

Numbness in thigh?!

Hi everyone, I had BSSO (lower jaw advancement) surgery on Tuesday. I've had absolutely no problems and recovery has gone very smoothly. I will be going in to see my surgeon for my one week follow up this Tuesday. I have one question to ask him though, that has just recently sparked my curiosity. I ...

Re: Post-Operative Care Instructions

Another thing I saw in the materials that I thought was interesting is that he says pregnancy should be avoided for 12 months postsurgery because hormones associated with pregnancy can cause joint changes leading to relapse of lower jaw advancements. This was the first time I had seen hormonal chan...

autologous blood donation for surgery?

Hi everyone, I am set to have my lower jaw advancement surgery in late July. My surgeon has asked if I would like to donate my own blood a week or two prior to surgery and store in the extremely rare case that it is needed during the surgery. 1. Has anyone been offered this service and done it? 2. W...

Hi Fuentes2002, Too bad that she has not posted in a while, I'd love to hear what she went through. It's hard enough to find someone who has been through this surgery, but then to find one who gets pregnant shortly afterwards! I haven't seen my surgeon yet to question him on the subject, but...

I'm going to have to call him next week to discuss, but as I understand it... the insurance company will only pay a percentage of an amount they deem appropriate - he is charging way above that of course, so I would be responsible for the difference between what he charges (10k) and what the insuran...
