I'll be 41 unless it takes a couple more months then planned and in that case, I'll be 42. Can't wait!

I need one dental implant myself and both my orthodontist and my regular dentist said that you must get braces before the implant because as others have stated, the implant will not move.

I have quite a few crowns and I have a bridge on my lower left side. My ortho said not to worry about the crowns. The braces should not damage them. As for the bridge, he said mine should be ok. Some people do have to have theirs cut & replaced, but we are hoping to save mine and I sure hope we ...

Hang in there! Once you make the decision to get braces, it seems to take forever to get the ball rolling, but before you know it, you will be braced and on your way. Good luck to you!

Same thing happened to me when I got my uppers on and then again when I got my lowers braced. Both were on teeth that have crowns. No problem though, my ortho reapplied both brackets with no complaints.

Congrats on getting braces! :D

I lisp pretty frequently now that I have both my uppers and lowers braced. You just get used to it. No one has actually commented on mine though.

Good luck today ame_malia! :)

I too have been terrified of dentists in the past. Lots of childhood trauma, etc. I finally have found a dentist and an orthodontist that I love. What has helped me the most was asking others for recommendations and then when I had my initial visit, I explained my dental fears. I still get nervous a...

Hi and Welcome! :D I'm 40 and work in a professional environment. I opted for all metal with silver ligs. Why try and hide the fact that you are improving your smile? A personal preference I'm sure. I just don't care for the look of the ceramic braces. My treatment time is about the same as yours. 3...

I don't use one and I just got a great report from dental hygeniest after my first cleaning since being braced. Many people swear by theirs. Personal preference I presume. Same goes for the electric toothbrush. Not necessarily a must have. I use a manual one and all is well.

My ortho told me that I'll have a permanent retainer behind my bottom teeth, but not the top. When I asked why, he said because I have crowding on the bottom (not so on top) and if he doesn't put one in after my braces are removed, my teeth will eventually shift back to being crowded again.
