Also unfortunate that I'm 2,000 miles away from my orthodontist for the summer while I'm an intern.

I have no work that needs to be done on the lingual side of any teeth...but they still get in the way. We had planned to do veneers after braces...but even to do the molds properly for the veneers, the bonded retainers would have to be removed. One of the biggest problems my dentist has is that if t...

I'm currenty in that situation....I have bonded retainers top and bottom and am having dental work done....they DO get in the way of a lot of stuff. My dentist absolutely hates them. He's now in contact with my orthodontist back in Tx about removing them and going to regular retainers.

Ok, so I guess I'll be the first, I got my braces off (a surprise event a week early when I went in to get the bonded retainer fixed).....and I DO have one tooth with the white square....unfortunately on a front tooth....that being said, my teeth had issues with decalcification prior to braces, whic...

I have bonded top and bottom retainers....took about 2 days to get my "s' and "th" to sound right, no problems now.

Just an update on the bonded retainer...it's getting fixed tomorrow morning. I was hoping that they would have had a cancelation and I could get my braces off then as well, but alas, that didn't happen.

Hmmm perhaps a little bit, yes. Especially since my lower bonded retainer has just popped off of two teeth on the bottom! Ugh. I made it all the way through braces without breaking a wire or a bracket, and now that, there goes my perfect record!

I have upper and lower bonded and it took a LOT more time to get used to the upper retainer. but after 2 weeks now with them, I hardly notice they're there, except on the top where I have a sharp peice, but that's going to get fixed when I get debanded.

Yeah, I guess so, since the sorness is gone now, but I also had a new powerchain put on, so that may have done it. I don't know if I'm in the norm category or not, but mine were put in a few weeks before debanding, and I won't have any other type of retainer once the brackets are gone.

I can relate....I also had three very different opinions from my consults. The first consult I went to, they recommended jaw expanders on top and bottom, then upper/lower braces....the second consult I had, wanted to extract teeth.....the third consult that I had didn't want expanders or extractors....

Dawna,

My impressions were taken for my upper and lower bonded retainers. I had my retainers put in a few weeks prior to debanding.

Nice.....the impression stuff tastes bad anyway.....don't think the pam would be TOO much worse! They had a terrible time getting mine to come off....then it took a good 20 minutes of brushing to get that gunk out of the braces. I'm glad to not have to do that again (knocking on wood).

Sure do....and I found this set of moulds much worse than the one prior to braces....that stuff is horrible to get out of the braces!
