I'm unhappy about it because I've only had braces for a month... It kind of feels like a step backward, and also, it feels like I just had this done.

So, my adjustment went fine. They didn't tighten anything, because the wire was apparently still active. The bad part was the next appointment. It's going to be 1-2 hours long, and they're going to reposition almost all of the brackets... By what they told me, this means taking them off, and bonding...

I got my canines extracted before I got braces, about a month and a half ago. (I'm still a teenager, so it's kind of different.) The adult canines still haven't come in, and I'm worried that I'll need some surgery... eek!

CanehdianGal- That happened to me, too. Unfortunately, I kind of agree with Joney. I was slightly unlucky, because I had on and off pain for a couple of weeks. Try to chew, like KK said, and it'll eventually get better. Good luck!!!

I know exactly what you mean. I had an expander for a few months, and I couldn't say any words that had an "E" or "I" in them. I never had a lisp with the expander... boy am I happy that I don't have it anymore. When I got braces, I also got turbos. I had a lisp for about 5 minut...

kiwikaren- You're lucky that you haven't had pain! My sister didn't either. But believe me I do. Cbushnaq- It doesn't hurt to get our the expander. I felt a lot of pressure, but not really pain. It only takes a couple of minutes and is SOOO worth it, believe me. It feels great to have a naked palett...

Thanks. A few minutes ago I was laying in bed, and I heard a loud pop. The bracket on my furthest back molar on my top row of teeth came off, and now the wire is poking my cheek! I'm trying to reach my ortho but they're not answering. Aaah!

Thanks! Cowlypso- Good thing you survived too! The pain has kicked in. A LOT. The brackets are still cutting my cheeks and now my teeth are REALLY tender. OUCH! I don't like the way I look with them either. I guess this is the hard part of braces.

I just got back from the orthodontist. I'm a metal mouth now! First, they took out my expander. It felt SO good and I love having my palette back. They polished my teeth, and then the fun began. They put on the lip stretcher, and stuffed my mouth with cotton. Then they put some horrible tasting stuf...
