My upper braces were your typical metal braces and my lower braces were the damon braces. I have had no problems with my lower braces and one bracket fell off one of my upper braces after a head butt with my infant niece. This happened about 8 months after they were attached and I have not had a pro...

Braces removed

I went in this past Friday to have my braces removed. I was so happy since they have been on 1 year longer than first expected. One week earlier they put a stronger wire on my lower teeth to move a tooth. On this past Friday the tech looks at my lower teeth and says "I am not going to tell you ...

The end is near - Sorry long post

I had my braces put on in October 2006. I really did not think that my teeth were that bad so I figured 6 months to a year. My ortho said 2 years, I was shocked but it is what it is. In April 2007, I got my palate expander (removable) and was told to wear it 18 to 20 hours a day. Honestly, I wore it...

Finishing Wire

I have had braces on for a little over 2 years. Today, at my adjustment the orthodontist said that next month he will put in a stronger finishing wire. Has anybody had this and if so, how much longer did you have in your treatment? I am really getting tired of these things.

A little update

Hello I was braced in October 2006. In March/April 2007 I was given a removable palate expander. I admit I do not wear it as often as I am supposed to because at work they cannot understand what I am saying. I go every 4 to 6 weeks for an adjustment. I had an appointment in 6/2008 but I had to cance...

Types of braces

My upper braces have a band around the bracket but my bottom braces just snap in. Does anybody know what they are called? Honestly, they are working better than my uppers.

While I really like my ortho and his staff - they do not give anything for good care of your braces. The only thing they give you at the end of your visit is a bill. They have a new system and now require a payment after your visit. They used to send monthly statements but I guess they had too many ...

Palate expander

I have been wearing my braces for a little over 18 months. About 6 months into treatment they gave me a removable palate expander. I have not worn it as often as I should but ever since I was sick at the beginning of the year I put the expander in and I am fine and within 15-30 minutes I start to ga...

Removable Palate expander

I have been braced for about 10 months now. I only have the uppers in right now. One side is straightening up really nice but the other side is not really moving. I got a removable palate expander and I try to wear it anywhere from 10 to 15 hours a day. My biggest beef is that it really does not fit...

Just an update

I called my ortho's office this morning before 9am and had an appointment at 9:30am. They replaced the bracket.

I still do not know what caused the bracket to pop off.

Oh well - here's hoping to another 18 months of no more broken brackets.

Thanks for the advice. I will call them first thing tomorrow morning when I get to work. My next adjustment is in 6 weeks. Could I wait that long with the bracket not glued to the tooth?

Here is a silly question: could I still brush that one tooth? Just be gentle?

Thanks again

My bracket came loose

One of my bracket became unglued. The wire is the only thing holding it from falling out. Has this happened to anybody. I sure hope my orthodontist can see me tomorrow to glue to back on.

This stinks - I made it 6 months with no problems and now this.
