I have been in ceramic uppers since early October and have had nothing but wire ties so far. (Sad~ no colours for me) I have ligs on my lower teeth, but the top row was so wonky that they needed something strong for a while. Switched to a heavier wire and STILL in wire ties. I wonder if my Ortho jus...

Hey there Emmymae, I don't want to sound preachy, and don't want to make you feel bad~ I just wanted to maybe mention another point of view. You are 19~ and will have the rest of your life with a beautiful smile if you take good care of your teeth : ) I know it sucks to have them put back on, but at...

 I got them!!! I am thrilled, but was a little surprized at how sparkly the metal is... I suppose having ceramic on top for 2 months, i did not realize how noticeable the metal would be. I love them though, and have not had any pain at all... and PURPLE elastics. Yahoooo! Sorry, I may be going ...

I ate a full turkey dinner (slowly) just 4 days after getting braced for Canadian thanksgiving! The turkey was nice and soft, and I ate tons of mashed potatos, stuffing just drowning in gravy! It was actually my first real (non~soup) meal in the 4 days, and I was so hungry by then it was heaven! Jus...

 I had actually forgotten all about reflexology. I know a little about it, and used it regularly a loooooong time ago. I have a cousin who is well~trained in it, and will need to ask her where to find the nerves for the teeth :0) thanks for the idea ! Fish is something I do miss, and have not h...

Braces~ and Preggy! anyone???

 Hi there, I am newly braced (2 mths uppers~ lowers as of THIS MORNING~ ouch) and also hoping to be pregnant soon. Anybody out there have non~medication ideas for pain relief? I could take tylenol~ but only as a last resort. It always makes me feel sick... Perhaps we can start our own club to s...

Hi BOOM Wow, just remember to rest rest rest! I really loved the salt water rinses after my extractions. Warm (not too hot) water and salt really soothed everything, and took away the nasty taste of blood. No vigorous swooshing though! Protect those blood clots at all cost. After my 4 extractions I ...

 Thanks for the the "good luck" wishes! I am as excited now as I was when I began this journey 2 months ago... When they go on, I will get to watch that first~month movement all over again. It is SO amazing how things can progress so quickly. Oh~ I also have the choice between speed a...

I didn't realize that switching brackets mid~treatment is something that could happen. Is this due to improper placement when the braces went on? Or is there a clinical reason for needing to reposition them once treatment has already started?

 Hi there, I was lucky enough to have FOUR bicuspids taken out (and I say taken when I should probably say wrestled and yanked). I had my upper braces placed in early October, and just had my first adjustment. My Ortho put the stronger wire and power chains on in order to start closing the top...

My gaps were all about 8mm, now the top ones have already closed to 6mm :0)

The only drawback is the constant taste of iron in my mouth!! Anybody else experience this?

:?

I have 8 ceramic on top, and full metal on my lowers will be placed in 2 weeks.

Total cost for treatment for me was 6,400 NOT including the 4 biscupid removals I had in the summer.

Some covered by insurance but totally worth it!
