I have to confess that I have "injured" the Mrs a time or two. Its been very rare, but on occasion I have been somewhat "aggressive" and pinched her lip between my braces and her teeth. Its not good for maintaining that romatic mood, but being the angel that she is she always for...

I definitely think so. Our baby was born just before I got my braces (16 months ago) and he has always looked at them and often tries to touch them.

I think if I had the option I would like to have Essix for both to wear during the day because they are less visible and impair speech less. Then I would have Hawleys, top and bottom, for night time. The Hawleys seem to be more solid and do a better job at retention. I think I will actually be getti...

I am always impressed by people who approach their treatment with a "Whatever it takes" attitude. We're paying a lot of money and we have some lofty expectations. Why not do anything we can to make it as successful as possible?

Kudos PARR!

I scheduled the appointment to have my braces fitted for late one afternoon. I left work a little early (3:30-ish) for the appointment, but I was back at work at the usual time the next morning. In my experience there was no need for additional time away from work. Besides, I hate playing catch-up a...

I had a similar bend in my archwires for a while. I believe it is just to designate the center of the wire. As soon as they switched me to stainless steel archwires they no longer had the bend.

I agree that they are pretty easy to get used to. In fact, my mouth feels loose when I don't have them in place. Like Meryaten I have also noticed a lot of inconsistency in my elastics. I have had 5/16" and now 3/16" and both have varied in thickness and elasticity. Anyone ever start brush...

I found the same deal LadyJ did for the free sample bottle of Night Time with a large bottle of the regular pro-heath rinse. I have used the Night Time twice and I like it. I find that when I use it I have less of the morning "film" in my mouth that I usually have. It leaves a slight dry f...

Yeah, my ortho sold the practice and moved out of state with no advanced warning. I can relate to your aprehention. In my case, I ended up with an ortho that I like even better than my original. Its very cool that they gave you some notice and that both orthos will be in the office together to make ...

Easier to Speak With?

Are Essix retainers easier to speak with? I am about 2-3 months from being done with braces and I believe my ortho told me that I will be getting a Hawley up top and a permanent retainer on bottom. This sounds great to me except for during work day. I have had 2 Schwartz Appliances during my treatme...

Oh! I am getting so close! Had my first appt with the new ortho (Dr. C) this morning. You can read about that here - http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=22228 Dr. C agreed that I am within 2-3 months of being done. He also decided to "step things up a bit". He changed my elasti...

Met Dr. C this morning. I was a bit aprehensive, but I think that is understandable. After seeing Dr. W every 4-6 weeks for the past 14 months there was a good raport there. I was a little concerned when I arrived right on time for my 7am appointment and they notified me that Dr. C was running late....

Changing Orthos - NOT by choice

I got a letter in the mail on Saturday notifying me that my current ortho, Dr. W is "pursuing other professional interests" and that the practice has been taken over by Dr. C. The letter went on to introduce the new ortho, his background, etc. Needless to say, I was rather stunned and very...
