Dear Lisa and Karen, I'm laughing, yes, I´m another silver mouth! I have fillings in every tooth. I agree with you that it was the style of the times. Our family had an old dentist, too, and he even pulled the wrong tooth from my brother (oops!). There were eight of us kids and we would rather die ...

THANK YOU! THANK YOU KK, LISA65 AND LUCY!! I used the stiffened end of the floss, as you suggested, and threaded it through the bottom and then p u l l e d it out the top! It worked!! Thank you again!! I´m also going to ask my ortho about it next time I see her. Hope my panic doesn´t seem to silly...

Help-Cleaning Between Molar Bands

Hi Everyone, I'm hoping that you can offer me advice. My braces and four molar bands were placed two months ago. Now it has been three days since I had an additional four molar bands placed and I cannot floss between those adjoining teeth with molar bands. I'm worried about getting cavities! Is this...

I have full ceramic with treatment time estimated at 1.5 - 2 years. Cost is US$1,000 per year so I suppose the final cost will be US$1,500 - $2,000. That includes everything but the four extractions which were about US$100 total.

Dear Ellebee, I had this same problem for the first month or so after getting my braces. It has been two months now and the problem has improved considerably as my teeth have straightened and I've gotten use to the braces. I agree with the others to keep drinking water (this really prevents irritati...

Dear florencegal, You also can ask your ortho if they can put gap replacements or some kind of cover over the gaps when you have your braces put on. I think that these are some kind of tooth-colored plastic 'flaps' that go onto the archwire so that it appears you have teeth where the gaps are. My or...

I've wanted braces to fix my crooked teeth for over 20 years but always felt overwhelmed by the thought of getting braces (cost, length of treatment, the appearance, etc...). Then I found archwired last year and read and read and read. Once I knew so much from the site, getting braced didn't seem so...

Dear toneten10, I had four second bicuspids removed under nitrous oxide and novacaine. The procedure itself was very easy and only had a little nausea afterwards from the gas. But I was lucky in that I never took any pain medication afterwards. I'm definitely one of those dental-phobics so the gas r...

Dear turrrtlelove22, It is totally natural to feel nervous, emotional and anxious. Don't feel awkward just give yourself time. I'm another one of those that 'thought' about braces for more than 20 years before taking the plunge and I NEVER would have done it without the help of archedwired. I was so...

I had molds prior to spacers and braces. When the ortho put the braces on, I noticed she had marked measurements on my model to find the center line of each tooth (my teeth are very crooked) and she used this to properly place the braces. I've just had a second adjustment today (after 1.5 months) an...

Dear Newmetal, I suppose your ortho/dentist can make the best call on this. For example, I have a number of slightly chipped front teeth from bruxism that my doc will file down when I'm done with braces. But a few months ago, my husband chipped his front tooth (faulty car seat!) and had it bonded im...

Dear Amy, I was a full time coke addict myself (coca cola!) but i've had braces for a month and have managed to replace the coke with water. I sip water all day now. You can do it! Even beyond braces, the acid and sugar will ruin your teeth--take it from someone who has been drinking coke for years!...

I feel lucky as everything is done by my ortho with the assistants only preparing the tools for her. My ortho is quiet so I try not to bombard her with too many questions. She does answer my questions completely. And after once having a different ortho at the same clinic for an emergency, I really d...
