In addition to getting a few free consults with orthos as already suggested to find one you are comfortable with, I will recommend that you not be afraid to negotiate the treatment fee with the ortho. Many times professional fees are negotiable.

What was originally described to you sounds like what I have. The retainers are clear and more flexible than Invisalign. They were made by the ortho in his office in less than a half hour after my attachments were all removed (so no bumps). The principle differences are: the retainer doesn't have th...

I see the options as: 1.) maybe they want to finish up your case with another treatment (such as fixed braces, veneers, surgery, etc.) due to the inherent limitations of Invisalign; 2.) bad estimate by Invisalign to think that it could be done in 10 aligners; 3.) bad estimate by ortho to miss someth...

When one of my lower canines didn't turn enough (though I thought that the biggest problem with my original series was the canine right above it), they just gave me a new attachment on it and a 7 set refinement series. Look alright now (I am one week from being finished with the refinement series!!).

I started a post last July called "elastics". There is a picture in there of how it looked with mine and why I got them. If yours will be to correct the bite, then it will probably connect the top teeth to the bottom instead of wrapping around individual teeth. But, you can get the idea ab...

Why do you feel like you have to keep the aligners out? I went to 2 weddings last year and only went without the aligners for the receptions (meals were served). They were out 2-3 hours max.

It looks pretty bad (to me at least). The front teeth do not even look right from the side and it still looks quite crowded. How many aligners would that be?

I had TMJ but it completely went away really early on in my treatment. My jaw has popped for as long as I can remember. When I asked my ortho about it that was just a good side effect of Invisalign he said that it doesn't work for everyone but in my case it did.

Invisibeth, Yes, all aligners (and the appropriate bubbles on the appropriate teeth for attachments) are produced at the same time and shipped to the practitioner. The practitioner has to approve the treatment plan before the aligners are produced. I think that a lot of us would appreciate it if the...

Arm and Hammer Peroxi-Care at home and a trial size tube of Crest (freebie from dentist) that goes in my purse for use while I am not at home. I really prefer the Arm and Hammer to the Crest, though.

I completed my initial set of 17u and 19l in December (should have been a month earlier). During the last 5 weeks, I wore elastics around my two upper eye teeth to coax them downward. I do not think that the result which came from that was worth the additional hassle and humiliation I had to endure....

I think you should be concerned that they are not willing to take the time to get a perfect result. Otherwise, you will probably end right back there to get a more acceptable impression taken in a few weeks. I think it will be difficult for the aligner to get a good grip on the 2nd molar if it is no...

No, it doesn't scratch. The brush isn't *that* hard. It is just the regular two steps above a soft bristle brush and keeps the form better while brushing the gunk from between the "teeth" shapes on the aligners.

Oh, sure it happens. Of my 3 attachments all of them had to be reattached on the day of application and I think even a few again that day. It is because there they were not adhered properly by not applying enough pressure when curing.

A thin but sturdy guitar pick worked well for me until I no longer had any problem getting them off (about the first 5 aligners).
