My ortho is a bit of a drive as well. He told me it was ok for my dentist to trim the wire.

You said your ortho was an hour away...maybe your dentist or another ortho are closer?

Just a thought :D

I know I had to work up to a heavier wire as well...which can take time. For me, getting the stronger wire meant they could start with elastics to fix my bite. I know you need a stronger wire when they start adjusting with rubberbands...I'm sure the stronger wire is needed for other adjustments as w...

Yep, mine did the same thing...only I didn't get the no pain no gain part. I actually had to stay home from work the 2nd and 3rd day I had braces because it felt like someone hit me in the face with a baseball bat! But yes...within the first week or two of having braces, I had a HUGE amount ...

Pics Of Progress...

I think I'm about half way done. I haven't tried to post pics yet, so here goes my first try. I hope it works. I started with a large overbite and also an openbite in the front. http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x248/dls2835/?action=view&current=Front_view_before.jpg http://s182.photobucket.com...

Rubberbands irritating my cheeks

 I dont' think there's anything I can do about this, but I'm wearing rubberbands to fix my overbite and the inside of my cheek is getting ripped up from rubbing on the rubberband. It's not like I can put wax on the rubberband itself. Anyone have any ideas. I guess I'll try salt water rinses ton...

I wear rubberbands and I know they couldn't put the rubberbands on until I had stronger wires. I think the stronger wires just allow them to move/adjust your teeth more. Stronger wire = stronger grip for moving

OK, so I just got back from the ortho...he said the problem was most likely due to the fact that the hook for my rubberbands was loose on the archwire and had slid back and was putting all the pressure from my heavy rubberbands onto that one tooth. Some people have the hook built in on the bracket. ...

Awe, don't sweat it...your tongue woun't be too big for your mouth. I had and openbite and overbite as well. I did not have extractions, but my whole mouth has changed a ton! I think you'll find that your entire mouth, will see a lot of movement and your tongue will just fall into place. Good Luck!!...

Thank you for putting my mind at ease... The only reason I started freaking out is because my friend told me it sounded like I might need a root canal. I'm so glad to hear ya'll don't that's what it is. I'll just give it a day or two and hope the pain stays gone. How would we survive without this we...

Elastics and sharp pain - Has this happened to anyone else?

I've been wearing elastics to fix my overbite for a while now. The elastics go from bottom back tooth to my top canine (I'm not good with teeth names). Here's what happened, yesterday I took a sip of a cold drink and OMG, had the worst horrible sharp pain on that canine ever. Felt like the d...

Have you ever had a cleaning before? If not...you might be sensitive. Taking a tylonol before hand might not be a bad idea, but I would call and ask. The reason I say this is...if you happen to be sensitive your gums might bleed a little and you might be sore, but don't worry too much about it. You'...
