Hi Amy, Just to help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. I got my braces on approx 2 weeks ago. I didn't have any real pain the 1st day or so either. I thought wow this will be a piece of cake! Then...my cheeks became extremely raw and my whole mouth hurt! I did the salt water rinses as many...

Hi Ishasha, I just had my uppers put on the 23rd. I too had mine done before my lowers because of my bite otherwise I would have bit down right on my lowers possibly chipping my top teeth and delaying treatment. Also in the hopes that I will be able to avoid having to build up my molars preventing m...

Hey Guys, okay so sounds like I'll begin to plan wax for my meals  cuz if needed i'll sure try to eat with it in! I have only had to use it on my top brackets for the past few days. So that's a step in the right direction. I've tried the go without to toughen up my cheeks thing too but some da...

I went to church yesterday (without wax cuz my mouth was feeling pretty good) and did a lot of singing...big ...

Hey Everyone! Thank you all for the encouragment! It really does help to know that I'm not the only one that has had to battle this depression. I've done well at masking it with people at work and my family because they just don't get it, they SEE my braces but they sure don't feel them! Today...

Depressed :(
Well, I had my braces (tops) put on Monday. The first day was not too bad but since then my mouth is so torn up and raw despite the great advice on things such as the warm salt water rinses etc. Plus my lips are raw and burning and I've been using Neosporin Lip Treatment for chapstick. I am in custo...

Hi dougwell. I just got my braces on on Monday. I had my spacers for a week, and got a LOT of great information from this site before I even went in for them. Everyone is correct in telling you that placing them is virtually painless. They are aggrevating, feels like food between your teeth or for m...

Hi Guys, Thanks for the encouragement. I started with the salt water rinses. I'll be doing them as often as I can tomorrow that's for sure. I'm thirsty and my jaw is sore but the teeth aren't sore. I ate a great dinner FINALLY! Was not all soft foods but soft(er) foods. Right now my big gripe is the...

Well the tops are successfully on. Was so excited to get the spacers out, they were still in there so tight!....only to meet brackets! That was interesting...and sore! But now it's over with, wax is my new best friend, and so far so good! Wound up with a tender jaw on the left side and a heada...

Meryaten thanks for the added advice. I have read a lot of your advice and so even before the spacers went in I started the warm salt water rinses. Since I don't know if it did or did not make a difference I'm going for DID make a difference and played a good part in why my soreness has been minimal...

Hi Saki! I'm 29 yrs old and I'm just going in on Monday to get braced. I am getting the metal because my ortho advised me too. His advice to me was that he can do better things with metal braces than the ceramics and the treatment time is usually shorter. So I said okay put on metal! I want out of t...

Linda, Thanks for the reply! :) One day and counting! Thanks for the advice, they said it would be about 2 1/2 to 3 hrs in the chair. So I plan on bringing a book to read, or as you put it, go to my happy place! Still a little nervous about this whole thing but feeling a lot better about it after fi...
