Before my surgery/ortho journey, I used only the Sonicare and loved it. After I got my expander and maxillary surgery, I couldn't take the Sonicare... too much metal in my mouth :soremouth: Since the expander is now gone, I'm brushing manually morning and noon, and Sonicare at night. It seems to ups...

Congrats on getting your surgery date -- it's scary but wonderful! I agree with overseasmel about having somebody around for the first few days. I had my maxillary expansion done in an outpatient facility and was home about 2 hours after surgery. I really do not remember a thing from the time they s...

Ellebee, c'mon girl... you can and will do this!! I'm almost 50 too, my bite was off, but I could have done nothing and then.... I would have lost my teeth and then would had to have dentures - eeek! THAT would be a disaster! Yuk. Same for you... you don't want dentures do you? Okay, so stick with t...

Willz... it sounds like you need a big bowl of ice cream or a milk shake, then a bath with bubbles, a margarita... then call the ortho, tell them you want new ligs and five packs of wax. Sometimes my ortho is pretty quiet, so I have to ask all the questions and not rely on him proactively telling me...

Hi Bunsen, I'm somewhat in the same boat, having had maxillary expansion surgery, and now I only have about four teeth that touch (after a year, I'm still waiting to chew). I too have a pointed chin and now a long, thin face (course, I lost alot of weight not eating). And I had a 100% deep bite. The...

Any implant stories?
Thanks SusieQ! I wasn't knocked out for the apico either, but they had everything numbed up well. Now that you mentioned it, I remember feeling like my jaw had been hit by a Mac truck. Yeah, if I wanted to run some sort of stat program, I'm sure I'd find that the implant has a higher rate of success...

Maybe a call to the investigative reporters at Fox6 San Diego or Fox11 Tucson might help to shed light on this type of customer abuse and get it fixed... you're probably not alone. Otherwise, now that you're in AZ, you can contact the office of Senator John McCain for help (http://mccain.senate.gov/...

My cleats were used with elastics to upright my bottom molars which were collapsed inwards. We'll probably use them again, but in the meantime, my ortho flattened them a bit to stop the pain. Sometimes they still bite me, and I'll use wax. Wax on a lingual surface is a bit more of a craft project --...

Apicoectomy Re-do -- Your thoughts?
Hey all, I could use some experiences and guidance here. A few weeks ago, my ortho tech found an abcess on a molar that has already been root canaled, and apicoectomied. It's #3, upper right, where my expander had been placed. Quick explanation of the original apico (12 years ago): an abcess formed ...

Hi Yaz! Not being paranoid, just actively involved... you cannot assume that they're going to catch everything. For example, I went to my ortho, had my wires taken out so I could get a thorough cleaning at the dentist. Went to the dentist, got x-rayed, cleaned, examined, a tooth filled and went back...

I got elastics at the same time as my braces went on... just a few weeks after my SARPE. I needed to get my lower molars uprighted quickly and it did the trick in just a few weeks. I've been off them since January, but expect to have them back for some adjustments to the uppers. Like everyone says, ...

All Right Ellebee!!! Congrats and welcome to the initiated!!! I couldn't access the board yesterday either, but I was thinking of you. Meryaten listed all the good stuff you need to remember, and I'll just add one from my own list of stupid stuff I did: Do not floss out your spacers. Remember that y...
