These folks are there to help YOU, so there is nothing to worry about -- let them worry about you! Make your list of questions, take your Tylenol and be happy to see them. Two other things: 1) Put "GET WAX" on your list. My ortho's office will give me a ton, if I ask 2) Tell them you want ...

Wow Maddy -- those look so incredibly awesome! I don't know why you would be ashamed to let anyone see those braces. And you are doing such a tremendous service to your daughter and her friends, showing them how much you value taking care of your health the right way. BTW, it is not against the law ...

I used SuperFloss -- it has a long "self-needle" piece that can be threaded up and over. You'll have to get used to finding the end deep in your mouth, but if you push it far enough it'll hang down. The foamy part did a pretty good job of getting stuff out. Sometimes it would take a bit of...

Hi and welcome!! Wow, you are so lucky to have such great insurance -- I've heard that Home Depot is one of the best companies to work for, now I believe it. Just want to clarify something: you said you were going for the initial consult and bracing at the same time? Normally you should "shop&q...

This is a great question! The toughest thing I cut up with a knife and fork was a Lindor Truffle. They're round and hard to stop rolling. Probably not as tough as cutting an olive off the pit though... kinda redefines working for your supper...

Beckvan, what you are doing is a super wonderful thing just for YOU! You'll be amazed at how braces will have complete strangers talking to you because everyone wants to have perfect teeth, but are afraid to take the plunge. I've even spent 2 hours on the phone counseling my dentist's wife on gettin...

Thanks for the SUPER warm welcome! Losing all the weight was a really cool secondary effect of the surgery -- my doc said that most of his patients either gain 30 lbs or lose 30 lbs. depending on how they managed food (McDonald's shakes become standard fare for lots of people). I worked with my phys...

Hi -- I'm new to the site, but hope my experience can help. I had a maxillary expansion via corticotomy and palatal expander last November. My problems were malocclusion/collapsing of the lower teeth/crowding. My orthodontist said he wouldn't even try to put on braces without expanding my upper jaw,...

Already one year into my quest and now I find y'all!

I didn't even know about this message board until I was surfing yesterday. Boy do I feel silly, but awfully happy to find this board... :D I'm about a year into my journey already: my palate expander was put in place Oct. 29 2005, my buccal corticotomy (and wisdom teeth extractions) happened on Nov....
