I'm Free!

After 26 months, I'm finally braces-free! Before: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3501/3218222146_8ee1c8b1dc_m.jpg After: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3122/3217370273_16341df8b6_m.jpg I'm thrilled with the results! The crowding was resolved in about eight months, but the crossbite took a LOT longer...

I'm a lifelong nail-biter, and I've actually managed to figure out how to bite my nails even with the braces on! I carry a nail clipper/file with me everywhere and take care of any rough edges/hangnails immediately, and I try to moisturize my hands a lot and wear clear polish to make them look nice ...

My "finishing stage" has been going on since August. I am (allegedly) getting finishing elastics at my next appointment on the 16th, then getting my braces off right after New Year's. I've been in and out of steel wires, various elastic formations, etc and had appointments ever 2-3 weeks, ...

I had that happen a few times, especially when I first got rectangular wires. It was uncomfortable to close them myself (especially if I didn't notice for a day or two) so I quickly learned to check in the mirror BEFORE I left my ortho's office! Since your next appointment is only a few days away I ...

I second (third? fourth?) corn on the cob! I also miss chicken wings, and ribs eaten right off the bone. And GUM! I was always chewing gum before braces, and I miss it like crazy.

I have self-ligating braces (Damon 3's, 23 months so far, almost done) and for the first year, I went every 12 weeks. Since then the appointments have started getting closer together to fine tune things, they went down to 8 weeks apart, then 6 then 4, and my next appointment will only have been two ...

I'm nearing the end of treatment (I hope only a couple months left) and my top front teeth also just barely touch my bottom brackets, but my bite closes completely and I've had no problems. They've been like this for about four months now.

I was flossing one day after my first adjustment and realized that one of my bottom 1st molars did not have the door closed and the wire was just hanging out...so at the second appointment I checked before I left and three brackets did not have the doors shut all the way! They have all been teeth th...

Thanks everyone for your kind responses! Lz - the laterals were behind my bottom teeth in the beginning but never interfered with my chewing, but when they started to move forward there was a period of about three months where one or the other (or both) would land right on top of the bottoms when I ...

Six month progress pics

I have my third adjustment on Tuesday and thought I'd take some progress pictures since it has been a while - and WOW! Even though my incisors had come into line my arch was still really lopsided, but now - I have an arch! An actual round straight one! I'm giddy :D http://toothordare.files.wordpress...

I take ibuprofen because of the anti-inflammatory properties and because I've just always preferred it... but it can be rough on your stomach if you are prone to ulcers (take it with food). Acetominophen should be avoided if you have liver problems, and should not be taken in large doses (more than ...

Treatment time varies for everyone - ask your orthodontist what they predict. Remember also that your treatment time depends on you following instructions - brushing, flossing, wearing elastics as prescribed, etc. This board is full of adults who wish they had had the opportunity you have now - and ...
