My insurance covered about 98% of the total cost BUT the total cost was $232,000.00. That is not a typo. my parents nearly fell over when the bill came and thought that it couldn't possibly be right. It's not SO bad because the insurance did cover it but I only have a million dollar lifetime benefit...

jaw shave
I had my upper and lower surgery about 5 weeks ago and in about 4 months I'll be getting a "jaw shave" because there is more tissue on one side. Has anyone ever heard of this or had this done?

I'm a young male and I am admititley proudly vain and concernced with aesthetics. I don't give a sh*t that other people frown upon going through this type of surgery for cosmetic reasons as I am. I frown on them for being ugly and doing nothing about it. I really I had no functional problems with my...

quick questions about swelling
Was anyone's swelling particularly hard? My swelling practically feels like bone in places but I'm nearly sure I don't have bone in some of the places it feels like this. Also, again not to discourage anyone, but this swelling is really bumming me out at this point (4 1/2 weeks). I know a few people...

From what I've heard it can take 6 months to a year for the numbness to go away. Sometimes it is permanent but this usually is not the case. I'm still numb at 4 and a half weeks but there is really no telling how or when it will resolve at this point. also, I am wearing my elastics and I didn't hear...

My bite also came open because of treatment for bruxism. (a mouth gaurd to wear at night.) I feel a little violent towards the dentist who gave me the mouth gaurd right now because it has significantly altered the last 4 and a half weeks of my life and I still have a lot of recovery to go. Luckily I...

To me, the teeth felt fairly normal after the wires came off. My molars felt a little rounded off because of the accumulation of ensure that I was not able to get off until I could brush again. I'm still not eating any foods and I'm about 4 and a half weeks post op. I stuffed some crab cake betwen t...

I'm glad to hear you aren't feeling too bad and you will be feeling worlds better in 3 weeks when you get the wires taken off. That is about the point which I am at (not quite 3 weeks). I just wanted to let you know that I felt the exact same way with my shortness of breath cuz my nose was so stuffe...

3 weeks, talking strange?
yeah I'm at nearly 3 weeks post op.. the swelling has gone down to the point where I look like a human being and I just got the splint out so this is the new "feel" of my mouth. Does anyone at this point or further than this point think talking felt really wierd? It might the numbness in m...
