Kiwi - funny you mention the ortho pointing out someone else's poor hygiene. I had a friend in high school who basically just had his removed because he wasn't taking care of them. I think it was a bad decision on his part not to cooperate with treatment, when you think of it being your parents' dol...

Drazda - I have never heard of that being a policy. My ortho did not do cleanings, he expected I'd be visiting my regular dentist for that. For one I remember I had an ortho appt to remove the wires - went to the dentist for cleaning, then returned to ortho. I only had to do that once, and it's been...

It could be cinnamon oil in the paste? I've never tried cinnamon, I use the vanilla mint because it's less strong and my two year old can use it too.

I never had a problem from the braces - but I do have two root canals due to root damage after a car accident. I didn't know about it, there were no symptoms and no pain, but my dentist did pulp vitality tests on the teeth and said the pulp was dead :(

Congratulations on finally getting a surgery date :D I read your blog, and I want to say I feel for you about waiting for a baby. It will be easier to focus on getting pregnant after the rest of this is over though. Good luck, I can't wait to see more progress happening for you.

If I ever have children, they're going to get this stuff done when they are kids, whether they want it or not, so they don't have to worry about financing it all themselves! Oh I am so with you here!! I had to pay for my own as an adult because it wasn't affordable (plus ins covered no ortho back t...

I just read over your whole journal so far :D Congratulations on the progress. You're right, the fang thing is not uncommon, I posted a comment to one of your blog things that mine were similar to start (only worse). I don't have many pictures from before either. I was 20 when I got my braces (23 wh...

Duffle - I know this is an old thread but I"m wondering why I'm reading so many posts about having bonded permanent retainers AND also having to wear essix. I didn't want those, I asked for hawleys - and I have an upper one but none for my lowers. My ortho said the bonded was enough. Now I'm wo...

Question for you - what about an active retainer? Mine has springs in it which is supposed to move/keep the teeth that don't want to stay put close to where they should stay. I know they moved in the years since my treatment but the retainer still fits - so I figure if I wear it often again, it'll f...

Hi! I FINALLY just got access here although I've been reading for a couple days. My bonded retainer is glued to all six, and my ortho never gave me a removable. I moved to another state over 3 years ago though, and have not had any followup since then. I would be concerned about the wire only being ...
