Todays update: much better.

I have an ortho / oral surgeon / dentist. How cool is that?!?

First Extraction

I had my first of four bicuspid extractions done on Feb. 1. I have a gentle ortho - he numbed my gum first with gel, then I had the numbing injections. I didn't really feel pain from the injection, but it felt weird - I didn't even feel the needle go in! It was the fluid from the shot that could be...

 1. Whoever whispered into my ortho's psyche, thanks because I won't have extractions until Feb. 1 2. Thank God my ortho's office is about 8 min from my house! 3. I was totally ready walking in to the ortho's office and was totally surprised when he said, 'Ok, Ms. sultanatoman, we will start ...

Sorry to hear your ortho makes you feel like you should have dealt with something that clearly hurt/bothered you.

When I had my braces first put on, my ortho snipped, then sort of grinded the wire ends down - maybe she can do that for you?

Nervous, scared and anxious

 (how I feel) In an hour, I'm leaving for my second appointment since being braced. My first adjustment appointment included changing the top arched wire to something a little bit heavier and of course changing all my ligs. Which, by the way I changed to lavender and now look like a gross ora...

:-1 Hi from Oman. I'm going to my second appointment after getting braced in exactly one hour. I felt the same way you did when I was first braced - nothing lined up and it was just an annoying feeling. Somewhere after the first month, things just sort of popped into a much better alignment (albeit ...

Do you smile more?

Since forever, I've never smiled around people that weren't really closely related. Laughing - well, I'd laugh but with my hand over my entire mouth.

Fast forward to now and I'm smiling wide and proud! :D

Anyone else?

After reading your post, I just remembered that this happened to me two days ago. I'm new into this, so I didn't freak out too much. I do remember after spitting there was a lot of blood too! For me, I had flossed earlier in the day, so I think I may have over done it. It took me about 10 swishes of...

Day 4 and getting EASIER

Yesterday while brushing my teeth :-} , I think I got a little over enthusiastic and out popped my arched wire. :yikes: Immediately after hearing the 'ping', I looked at myself with a wide opened jaw and toothpaste foam gooping out of my mouth and just started to laugh. Since shops / dr.'s offices ...

Thanks for the heads-up Betty! We don't really use turmeric per se in the Omani dishes (well some do, but in our family, we don't). If we eat indian pickles, then yes you're right - there's lots of turmeric in those! Didn't think about that one... Rice - tell me about it getting stuck! There are ton...

Thanks for all of your support! I really appreciate it! One thing I forgot to mention - last night before I went to bed, I got all clamy - like I was going to have a fever. Do you think my body went into a sort of 'trauma' due to the braces? I feel ok now, but last night I think my pain sort of 'pea...

My treatment is in Omani Rial - OR700. That converts to exactly $1820. It includes four extractions, metal braces, retainer after treatment and after my retainer is done another year of follow up treatment. Not too shabby!

OK, braced in Oman...

Alrighty - I got to my 8:45 appointment and upon entering the office my ortho was eagerly awaiting my arrival with a big grin! First thing - he took pics of my teeth, then showed me the brackets and we were ready to roll. I think KK suggested I use lip balm before I went to my appt, so a big T...

GETTING BRACED TOMORROW!

:D Sorry for shouting. I'm excited, scared, nervous, all the above about tomorrow morning. I've been cleaned, polished, scaled, filled and totally tooth prepped! I keep running my tongue over my crooked teeth and telling myself tomorrow it won't feel the same! By the way, I live in Oman - a country ...
