Searching orthodontist credentials and MS?
Does anyone know of any sites where I can search an orthodontist's credentials? I've noticed a few orthodontists in my yellow book with a DMD, a DDS, or a DDS combined with a MS. How important is a MS? Should they be ABO-certified? http://www.americanboardortho.com/ Which board(s) should they be cer...

Okay, I just watched the 60 Australia video and I have to say, they sure know how to scare the bejesus out of people. I'm sort of glad I came across this thread before my consultation with the ortho because this will definitely be #1 on my list to ask about. Am I the only one that thinks Ben looks m...

Just to pick up on your last post, if your goal is a better profile and a good bite then I would definately go discuss with your ortho and make sure they know you are concerned about both. Thanks for reminding me. I will definitely do that. For many different reasons, I went ahead and had ONLY the ...

I don't know whether chin implants are any less costly than genioplasty - genioplasty is different than an implant - it takes and moves the end of your chin to a better position and it is fixed there with plates and screws. Frankly, I'd think the biggest concern is that genio tends to increase your...

Overbite, weak chin, insurance, bone resorption
I haven’t had a consultation with my orthodontist yet. Maybe I should talk to him first before I make a post here, but I feel like I need to be prepared for the worst news before I get it, assuming that actually happens. Does that make sense? Anyway, here’s some of my concerns without the ortho ...

How long has it been since your last cleaning? I think you should go to the dentist and have your teeth cleaned. Ask the dental hygienist how to floss properly with your braces on because that's probably why your gums are bleeding. Add a teaspoon of salt into a 8 oz cup of warm water and take a few ...

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm relieved to see that a few people would still give Dr. S a chance so I'll do that and see how things go. I just kind of wish my parents weren't so lazy/trusting when it comes to these things, considering it's my teeth and facial profile that will have to endure t...

turrrtlelove22, I found a chat transcript about the Creed twins. I think that's who you're talking about. http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/sixtyminutes/stories/2003_08_03/story_918.asp I wish the site had pictures. Was it a very drastic difference or only noticable because they were pointing it out?

Lisa... They're paying for treatment, but I've agreed to give them the money back when I can afford it. Hopefully you're right about Dr. S. I started thinking that maybe the reason he got the bad review is because her son was already in the middle of treatment somewhere else and maybe he wanted to d...

They don't have to get me braces, but I can't afford them on my own right now. I plan on paying them back with interest later on in time. That's one of the reasons they agreed to it--that, and the dental hygienist begged them to do it now because she could tell I was really insecure about my teeth. ...

My soon-to-be ortho has bad reviews!!!!
Now I'm freaked out about getting braces. After pestering my very anti-doctor/dentist parents to have me go to the dentist for a check-up and cleaning, I lucked out and was told I had gingivitis and no cavities. After the cleaning, I flossed my teeth everyday for 5 months and now the gingivitis is g...
