yay for you!!!! Actually, I have a very similar situation. I was suppose to have braces until Nov and I am also suppose to be getting them off early (July 20th). so yay for us. I just started wearing elastics, but he only wants me to wear them at night.

but why would he de-band me if I wasn't ready? He is a v. good ortho with a good reputation. If the space is fairly small, can a retainer close it?

Your ortho is nice! I asked my ortho if I could have my braces off for 5 days in aug (9 months into my 12 month braces), he laughed at me. but the assistant told me after he left he might be persuaded but I would have to wear a retainer. I guess teeth can move back pretty quickly.
