Congratulations Filip on your RPE removal. It won't feel the same to eat, talk or swallow. It's like getting used to a different feel in your mouth all over again. Are you going to have a TPA installed??? I think the reason I got the gap after removal was because the RPE got the widening of the arch...

Thank you to everyone for the replies. metalmom , yes trust me the expander is 100% worth it. I didn't think so until here recently. Actually I was talking to my sister last night after I showed her the progress and I told her that after seeing the results I would go through this process again in a ...

I got braces about 2 months before I turned 21 so I am constantly being carded. I even had to have my id renewed during my braces treatment so you can see my braces in my id now.

I too have 6 ceramic ones in the front top and then the rest are metal. I could have had 8 on top but my expander had to have four bands and the front two are where the ceramic ones would be placed.

I had my expander for 6 months and I don't know if I ever got completely used to my expander. I guess my eating habits just changed a little. One big tip that I learned is to put small amounts of food in your mouth. You aren't able to use your tongue and roof of your mouth to push the food around as...

I got my braces and expander on the same day. I was told to turn every third day for a total of around 28 to 30 turns. I turned for 3 months then had it 3 more months for things to settle. I have to go back to the ortho in one week to get my TPA installed.

Sorry to hear that you have been given what seems like the run around. It is very frustrating to finally decide to go through with treatment only to find other people are dragging their feet. I hope that somethings are resolved soon so that you can move on in your treatment.

I'm looking forward to biting into a piece of food and seeing the nice rounded teeth marks. I have never had a round, full arch and have always been embarrassed by my narrow, almost V shaped smile. Oh and coming in second, I am looking forward to not waking up to find my brackets glued to the side o...

I had my RPE for 6 months and I think that was the worst part of braces. All the advice that people are giving is great. Another tip would be to not put big bites of food in your mouth. Your mouth is already full with braces and the expander so not much room for large pieces of food. Things do get b...

Meryaten you should really try a tongue scraper. I too am very "gaggable" and I love mine. I can't stand to brush my tongue at all but the scraper doesn't bother me one bit. When I don't have my scraper I don't get to clean my tongue which makes me really paranoid of bad breath for the re...

No TPA???

I went for my fifth adjustment yesterday expecting to get my expander out and have the TPA installed. And for the most part that is what happened. The head ortho assistant removed my expander... and that HURT!!!! and then she cleaned the teeth up so that she could reband them in preparation for the ...
