I'm still in the very beginnings of finding out all the ins and outs of the insurance coverage, I'm trying to get second opinions from my regular ...

HeatherLynn, what ever happened with this? I too have a 9mm over jet, with a lot of crowding on top. the ortho suggested I see an OS, but their fee for consult is 285.00 plus x-rays are extra for lower jaw surgery, I have Sagamore health insurance and the benefits book says it does not cover the sur...

Thanks Meryaten, I will check it out. Jovifan: I understand your fear, I have it too. But my fear is not the orthodontic side of it, it is the surgery side of it that scares me, also the fact that they want to remove 6 teeth, I guess I should look at it as only 4 teeth as 2 are wisdom teeth and I ha...

thanks for the support Denise, I have had only one consult with an ortho so far, I have not seen the oral surgeon yet, he charges a 285.00 consult fee, so I have to come up with some money first, I also was told that the ortho needs a Tomograph (an exray of the jaw joints), that is another 350.00 I ...

Oh I totally agree Chris, I have had family members say "you have lived with it for 43 years, can you really justify the money or be guarenteed any results?" it sure makes me stop and think, I mean I have always hated my teeth, but there are no food groups that I have to avoid nor do I loo...

I too am having doubts! I have been told that I need 2 years (at least of braces), 6 teeth need to be extracted, surgery for my lower jaw. I am terrified. I've had bad experiences with a tooth being pulled without any numbing! I also have no insurance to cover any of the treatment, which according t...

Well the news is not good :( It looks as if I probably won't be joining the braced club after all. I just got off the phone with the ortho office, they need to do some kind of xray called a tomograph? it's an xray that shows the joints (for TMJ issues), it's 350.00 dollars (american), then I need to...

I only saw one ortho and he charged a fee of 150.00 for the consult, which is not part of the treatment fee, then there was a charge of 95.00 for the moulds, xrays, & pictures (also not part of the treatment fee). They told me that the 150.00 was for the ortho's time that he will spend writing t...
