I had open bites on both sides of my mouth, although the right side was worse. My braces and elastics almost completely closed the bites, but my ortho told me that they will almost certainly open up to some degree. I was not willing to consider surgery, and I still don’t know if my open bite is sk...

Retainer almost impossible to remove

I just started wearing the Essix retainers as of late yesterday afternoon. I went to take them out to eat dinner, and I could not get the top one out! I ended up spending about 30 minutes trying, and just gave up. I finally got it out this morning using a metal dental tool. Am I supposed to be able ...

Essix and Crest whitestrips

I just had my braces removed today :D and I am having a dental cleaning tomorrow. I would like to try Crest whitestrips, but I have heard that they tend to slide around. I will have the Essix retainers, and I wonder if placing the retainer in my mouth will cause the whitestrip to be pushed up into m...

Open bites and Essex

I am near the end of my treatment, and I was told at the beginning that I would be wearing Essex retainers when I get my braces off. I had a huge open bite (about 5-6mm) on one side, and a smaller one on the other side. The large open bite has closed quite a bit, but probably will not close all the ...

I had about 8 or so brackets repositioned for the first time this week. That was the most unpleasant visit so far! I have Damon brackets, and the little doors are always so hard to open on the bottom. It takes a lot of pulling to get them open. Then the sanding of the glue was unpleasant...I usually...

Possible gum grafting

Hello. I haven't posted in a long time, and I have had my top braces on for 14 months; 9 months for the bottom. I just had an adjustment today, and I was told that my gums are starting to receed around the bottom canines. I go back for an x-ray next month to see how my roots are doing, but if it get...

1) My ortho told me that I may need one extraction of a bottom front tooth, but it all depends on my top teeth moving forward (I only have braces on the top so far). 2) I have had discomfort with my braces sticking out. My canine teeth stuck out farther than the rest of my teeth, so I get chapped sk...

It is kinda exciting, isn't it? Tomorrow I get my first adjustment, and I'm just as excited as I was on brace day.

I'm starting to think the only reason my Ortho praised the Damons, is because they bring in more $$ for the ortho. My Damons cost me $700 more than the regular metal braces...I don't know how much they cost my ortho. And one thing that I don't like about the Damons...they stick out a little more tha...

I have the zigzag in the archwire, too. My canine teeth need to be brought down. I've had my top braces on for 5 weeks and I have noticed an improvement, mostly on the front 4 teeth.

Oh my gosh...red wine makes the inside of my mouth stick to my braces more than anything else. Yes everyone says you should drink lots of water all the time, but you need to have fun, too! I just make sure I give my teeth a good brushing afterwards, and scrape my tongue!
