6 weeks post-op update
Hey everyone, I've been crazy busy lately, with school and such. Life is pretty much back to normal for me. Today I got the go-ahead from my OS to wear my elastics only at night, which means, I can finally talk! I'm pretty excited. I am still on a strict no-chew diet, but I'm loving Cream of Wheat, ...

I only missed a week and a half of school after upper and lower jaw surgery, after my OS told me that I should expect to go back after a month. I was really good with getting up and walking around the house, instead of just sitting and watching TV all day, and I honestly think that played a huge par...

I had upper and lower jaw surgery 6 weeks ago, and I lost 12 pounds in the first week, but I've gained 5 back already, and that's on a strictly liquids diet. I was tightly banded for the first 2 weeks (ish), and then I was allowed to take off my bands twice a day so I could eat something other than ...

I had an open bite too, and I agree with everything Lindss20 said. I'm only 6 weeks post upper and lower jaw surgery, and I'm already loving how my lips meet for the first time in my life. And I have so much more space in my mouth now. Since my jaws are further forward, brushing is a lot easier, too...

Update: 3 weeks post-op and feeling great
Hey everyone, Just wanted to post a quick update. 3 weeks ago I had upper and lower jaw surgery, and I feel awesome. Despite the liquid diet, I have only slightly lower energy levels than usual...I'm still as cheerful as ever. My jaws are still banded together, but I'm now allowed to take off the el...

Food ideas?
Hey everyone. I'm now one week post-op, and feeling awesome, for the most part. I've had relatively little swelling and bruising, and my energy levels are generally normal. I've needed absolutely no painkillers. I might even be well enough to go back to school sometime next week. My only complaint i...

5 days post op...and surviving
Hey everyone, So I had upper and lower jaw surgery done on Wednesday. It apparently went really well, but I'll be completely honest in saying that the following days were absolutely hell. I had an extreme amount of difficulty breathing, swallowing, etc. It was probably the most horrific experience o...

Tomorrow's the day
I'm getting upper and lower jaw surgery done tomorrow, for my open bite. I'm nervous, but surprisingly not as much as I thought I'd be. Tomorrow morning I'll probably be a wreck lol. I'm at the point where I just want it over with, and be on my way to recovery. I'm very positive, and I'm hoping thes...

Sickness after surgery?
Hey everyone, I was just wondering, for those of who have had jaw surgery done, how many of you endured nausea or vomiting afterwards? And how did you deal with it?

My double jaw surgery is a week from today
Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while, I've been so busy getting ready for my surgery. I've had to rig up homework since I'm supposed to miss about a month of school, stock up on PJ pants and DVDs, and make my bedroom a recovery-friendly place (positive quotes and pictures of my friends all over ...

I'm not familiar with any of the technical terms, so I can't really offer you any help with what any of them mean. But I have to say, I looked at your pictures, and I thought I was looking at my own mouth! Your bite looks almost identical to mine! I have an open bite too, and I'm getting surgery for...

Weird topic...but I'm wondering about catheters...
Hey everyone, 37 days away from double jaw surgery. I've never been a patient in a hospital for any reason, let alone got a major surgery done, and I had never heard of catheters until I came across this forum. I'll be perfectly honest - the thought of them really unnerves me. Are catheters commonly...

Question for those who have already underwent jaw surgery
So my jaw surgery is about 38 days from now, and I'm growing more and more anxious. I'm sure that I'll think of more questions as time goes on, but here's one for right now. For those of you who have gone through jaw surgery, how long was it before you could say, with 100% certainty, that it was com...

I got my wisdom teeth removed in July of 2005, and my jaw surgery is next month. My OS said that he had to remove them before my jaw surgery was performed, but I was talking to one girl who said that she got her surgery and her wisdom teeth out at the same time, so I'm not certain anymore. I'm actua...
