Keeping braces clean (any suggestions)

Hi everyone, I am looking for a way to keep my braces in great shape. I brush alot and they still look like they did when they were new, so there arent any problems. I was looking at the Sonicare toothbrushes and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them and if so if those experiences wer...

The bizarre thing with braces is that one day these two teeth will hurt and the next day that tooth will hurt. It is the thermal controlled arch wire trying to regain its original shape as Karen said. If you need brief relief during something cool. The wire will loose its strength when you do that....

Hi Sam ... totally normal! The flexible archwires continue to work until they get the teeth in the shape that the wire was in, when it was put in your mouth. This means they can work for months ... I suspect years ... as it can take a long time for your arch to get to the same shape as t...

Re: Braces tomorrow!

So tomorrow is my "lucky" day. I'm very scared. The only good thing is that I'm getting my RPE off. FINALLY! Any tips? How much do you think it'll hurt? Aaaaah, wish me luck! Thanks! :? Well besides going to the restroom prior (as someone else mentioned) I would keep chapstick with you ju...

Wow, time does fly when you are having fun! ;) Well this friday I go back to college braced. I got braces while on break and this will be the first time all of my friends at college (except one that goes to my college and lives near me) has seen me in braces. Should be interesting. But in the last c...

Hey thats great Samantha! :D Glad you got to eat something you enjoy! Yeah, it just takes a little getting used to the braces. Luckily I always carried a toothbrush and toothpaste with me (I hate food in my teeth) so when I got braces and had to brush more it wasn't a gigantic pain. Of course I can...

Re: hi everyone

I'm a high school freshman in Hawaii and I'm getting braces on Jan. 15. The orthodontist said the expected treatment time is anywhere from 16-22 months depending on how diligent I am. I'm getting ceramic braces on the uppers and lowers. I have some spacing and a moderate (6 mm) overbite, but my tee...

Different orthos seem to have different rules. Popcorn is on my "be cautious" list, as the hard unpopped kernals can be a problem. But I eat it all the time without a problem. The only time I seem to have a problem with brackets popping off is when I break the "don't bite with your f...

My orthodontist said I can have sugarfree gum, and that's pretty easy since most gum out there is sugarfree now, but I've also had a it of non-sugarfree gum too XD I plan on quitting at least that though. Good luck to all of us! I tried normal gum and didn't have a problem, although I admit I was b...
