Should I take them out to eat?

By the way, my ortho said I should keep the elastics in all the time except when I brush my teeth, but I read on this website that a lot of people take them out to eat. It's certainly very difficult to eat witht the elastics in at the moment, should I be taking them out to eat?

Elastics on for the first time today, help!

I just had elastics put on my braces for the first time today. They're horrible, my teeth hurt, my whole jaw is aching and I can't open my mouth properly! How long does the the discomfort last? Will I get used to them? Can anyone reassure me? Help!

I've had my braces on for 5 weeks and I've just started to see a significant change in the last week. Suddenly things have started to change, I spent the first month staring at my teeth and not seeing anything. Taking photos is a really good idea, looking back now I can really see the difference and...

Thanks guys, will ask my ortho about it. Would rather not have them removed as I've heard it's quite unpleasant, but I guess it might be better in the long term. I haven't got braces on my wisdom teeth either so they're staying where they are for now. My next adjustment is in a few days so I can ask...

Can braces help to bring through wisdom teeth?

Hi, I've had my braces on for 5 weeks and recently I've had an infection in the gum around my wisdom tooth. My wisdom teeth are practically through, there's only about a mm or two left to go, but my dentist said it can't come thought completely and I should ask my ortho about having the teeth remove...

Hi, it's interesting to hear everyone talking about their face changing shape. I've only had my braces on for a month but already I'm sure my face looks different. I've lost some weight since getting the braces on due to not being able to eat as much, but my face seems to look more angular too. I've...

My teeth are also prone to erosion and my dentist suggested to rinse out with water after acidic foods or drinks and/ or wait 30 mins before brushing. I have also heard that it is not possible to rebuild enamel. I've heard somewhere that rinsing out the mouth with milk after acidic foods and drinks ...

My dentist has suggested I should have my wisdom teeth removed as they are not all the way through and this causes the gum to get infected and swollen occasionally. I really don't want to have them out unless I have to. There's only about a couple of mm left to come through, does anyone know if it i...

I had 3 consultations all together. I didn't feel right about the first two, but felt very comfortable with the third. Sometimes too many consultations can confuse you, but I'm so glad I didn't go with the first ortho I found, she was cold, unsympathetic and very pushy!

I was told that having ceramics on the bottom can erode the top teeth if they come into contact, as kk says, they are made of a very hard material compared with the metal. I have metal and the bottom and they don't show at all.

Hi 3Scorpios, I know how you feel. Until a couple of weeks ago I was in exactly the same position. It feels like you'll never be able to eat again doesn't it? But 4 weeks into my treatment and I can eat pretty much everything I could before, unless it's really crunchy. I think the others are right, ...
