That's a relief! I had heard from a friend that when she had braces (a long time ago) it affected the roots and made them more shallow. I couldn't remember why but I thought she'd had a lot of movement in a short amount of time. I just got a little worried!

The floss used to keep coming out of the threader and that seemed to make flossing take so much longer. But now that I use the floss that is attached to the threader, my time has really reduced. It still takes about 5 minutes to do though

Is it okay to have more than one adjustment in 6 weeks?

The last time I went in to get my clear elastics changed, my doctor came over and made another adjustment (added another wire instead of an elastic and sanded down some teeth)...and this was just 2 weeks after the previous adjustment. I almost said that I was only there to get my elastics replaced, ...

I think the same thing is going to have to be done to my teeth....its almost like my braced teeth are starting to form a narrow arch within my back unbraced molars. It doesn't look right and I was wondering what had to happen to get my teeth to line up with those back molars. Just how uncomfortable ...

We're back from our dive trip and I'm happy to say I survived my diving adventures with braces! I have to say, I'm glad I didn't have my adjustment done prior to my trip. After each day of diving/snorkeling, my mouth was sore. But I think it was as much from biting down on the mouthpiece as it was h...

What's the best way to take a picture of your mouth?

Now that I have had my 1st adjustment, I want to get some pics. Any advice out there on the best way to do it myself?

Sanding my teeth????

I just went in for my first adjustment...my lowers are still crowded and my doctor replaced the elastic bands on two of my pushed back teeth with metal wires. He said once my teeth pop forward, he'll be narrowing the tops of them so they fit better. My teeth are shaped like an upside down triangle a...

My ortho allows me to come in and replace my bands every week if I want...I have the clear ones replaced every week. They never get really bad, no matter what I eat or drink. HOWEVER, it seems that my teeth always seem to get tender...either they're sore before I go in and it hurts when they change ...

Our local dive store said that they have several moldable mouth pieces...and on the back of the package they say the types of regs they work with. Since I only go on a dive trip once a year, I think I'll just try what they have down there and make the best of it. I think the best advice from lionfis...

If I'm renting a regulator, can I still take my own mouthpiece? How does that work? I'm going to call my local dive shop and see if they even have the moldable mouthpiece you're talking about. Thanks so much!

I'm finally on week 5 and I know exactly how you feel. I felt like I couldn't even talk right...and then when I did talk, the insides of my mouth were raw and it hurt so much. I took the advice of many on this website about positive attitude. I practiced smiling and talking in front of the mirror......
