I guess none of you will be surprised to hear that my first set of ligs was smoke. Yes, I wanted no color and for everything to blend in with the metal. So I didn't like the dots, even though I was the only one who could see them. Well that was then and this is now. I've since looked at tons of lig ...

I brushed a lot and they didn't budge. Once I realized they were recessed so much though I was sure they would have taken a while to go on their own!

How to remove the little dots on your brackets

Hi there, I had those little dots on some of my brackets when my braces were put on. The ortho said they would come off from brushing. Well, after several days they were still there. I didn't like them so I figured out how to remove them. - sterilize a needle or pin or safety pin, you get the idea -...

Hi SecondTimer, when your doctor originally suggested shaving the bottom teeth, so you mean shaving the sides of the teeth or the tops? I like the sound of your new treatment plan. I will be asking my ortho about the cuspids for sure. One is in the correct position and one is only very slightly rota...

For those of you who had the "slenderizing" process done... How do they do it? I have this crazy image of dental floss made of sandpaper in my mind - ha ha! And I didn't realize they could do it with the braces still on. But that makes when my ortho said make more sense now. Please tell me...

Hi. I have minimal crowding in my lowers and my ortho also suggested thinning them down on the sides so they will lay flatter against one another and thus not turn later. It sounds like a good idea to me. He says he will do it after the teeth are straightened. I just got my braces on a few days ago ...

Hi there, I too agonized over ceramic or metal. My husband voted for metal to "keep it real" as he says. I was pretty set on ceramic though, in order to mask them as much as possible. But in the end I chose metal for comfort (I like the lower profile) and I'm just fine with them. No ...

Only 12 brackets? to SecondTimer and anyone else

SecondTimer, I read your story on the other thread. We really are in similar positions. And you know, I have had these 12 brackets on for a few days and I just can't see how these will give the ortho the leverage to straighten the front teeth. Part of my problem is that on the bottom, one of my cusp...

Hi pinkblondie, I had 12 metal brackets (6 upper, 6 lower) yesterday. I forgot how difficult it is to eat when your teeth are all slightly sore! Plus cleaning them is a pain, so I didn't eat very much yesterday. I woke up in the middle of the night because I was hungry, but I was too tired to deal w...

Platinum, I'm so sorry you had a bad day. What type of braces did you get? I hope you feel better about it soon. You're probably just not used to seeing yourself this way, huh? Honestly, seeing so many other adults with braces helped me work up the courage to do it. There are a lot of people out the...

Hi everyone! Well, I did it! I went for metal because they don't stick out as much. I screamed when I saw myself with them. Weird!! It's like having a flashback to middle school. :D I'd say within 15 min or so of staring at myself in the mirror I became very used to them, and now I actually like the...
