Hi SleazyG So sorry you had such a bad time. I wonder how you're feeling now? I know it's completely different, but I had a really bad time when one of my sons was born by C section - they cut my bladder by mistake and sewed me up without knowing. I was in SUCH pain. They kept telling me to pee and ...

Everyone I tell about my surgery says that they have never noticed any problem with my jaw (even though one side is 4cm longer than the other. I wish I could believe them - even my closest friends say they've never noticed. I think that the people who know and love you best only see your personality...

Hi Akira I have full metal braces - I didn't give the exact date to family, and when I had them fitted I went home and waited, and waited, and waited until my kids and family noticed. They didn't. I had to point it out! I promise - they didn't notice, they weren't just pretending. I think that those...

I would agree, you need to get xrays to see what's happening. I have quite severe asymmetry which was noticed in my 20s as quite mild, but it's now quite noticable in my mid 40s. When I think back to my childhood/early teens, I remember wondering whether everyone only chewed on one side, or whether ...

Your situation sound so much like mine! My dentist noticed a slight cant in my early 20's, then surgery was recommended at 27, but I was first time pregnant and couldn't cope with everything at once! Nobody else knew of the problem as it didn't show. Unfortunately is has got more problematic, ie. th...

Hi Carlylyn It would be interesting to know about your situation, how and when it was diagnosed, whether they still think it's growing on one side and how much longer it has grown, and about the surgery you've had an whether it worked. Has anyone given you any information as to why this happened? Yo...

Hi Genevieve I don't know when my surgery will be, but I'll keep an eye on your progress in July - Good luck! I'm a bit worried too and will be asking for lots of hand-holding as well. I have condylar hyperplasia, my chin is well over to the side and teeth at the back only meet on one side when I tw...

What a result! I wonder who your surgeon was - are you allowed to say? My asymmetry is really quite bad (unilateral condylar hyperplasia) - none of the surgeons know whether to cut out part of the bone on one side only, or cut both sides, and shorten one and lengthen the other. Nobody actually talks...

Hi Ryan You seem to have a condition something like mine. (You've probably seen my postings) All is going well with the treatment so far - braces have been on for 2 years now and I'm hoping the op will be in the summer sometime. There is a small chance they may not operate though because the braces ...

Hi CelineCarey I'm not sure about the health system in the USA. I live in the UK and my Dentist referred me to an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon (sp?). It took three years to get to the point where they decided to take on my case, I did have lots of tests first - I went to an Endocrinologist to test for...

Hi WhiteLurcher Yes, that was it - I had a cough at the time so had to hold my breath. Those photos are not the best - it seems that many of the people in the US get copies. I dont want copies but I'll be interested to see my before and after when it's all over. To be honest I don't see my face as b...

Hi WhiteLurcher When you know what planned for you, please post a message, I'd be interested in how you get on. Also, how did they know that it was still growing? What tests did they do? I was surprised at how little all the experts knew about the condition. They did an Xray with some kind of radioa...

Hey This message board is so good, I really thought I was the only one. I'm expecting it to be a slow process - but the braces have been on for 2 years now and time just flies by. I reckon I must be about half way through the process but who knows. I know this sounds crazy, but I'm looking forward t...
