Yes, they do the impressions the same way as they did them before. For me, I am getting my impressions done (with braces on) on January 13, then going back a week later to get my braces off and bonded retainers put in and then going back a week after that to pick up my nighttime retainer. So I am su...

Thanks for the advice. I found out I am getting the fixed (or bonded) retainers on both upper and lower on January 20 (also my debanding date!!!) and a night retainer on January 27. I thought they only did the bonded retainers on the lower too but apparently they can do it on both. I am so excited t...

Permanent Retainers

My Ortho said I will be getting permanent retainers top and bottom...does anyone know if you get your permanent retainer the same day as the braces come off or is there usually a waiting period between to two for the retainer to be made? Is the Hawley a permanent retainer? I have been reading other'...

That is wonderful!

Even though they hurt, keep going with the elastics. It will stop hurting before you know it.

I go tomorrow and am hoping to get a debanding date too!!

Well I got the elastics this morning and they aren't too bad so far. Just some pressure. The hardest part was getting them after I ate lunch. Reminded of trying to floss when I first got braces. My Ortho said I am nearing the end of my treatment so I am happy and willing to put up with the elastics ...

I just got elastics this morning and my Ortho told me to take them out to eat and brush my teeth. Other than that to leave them in. He said NOT to double up as that will do damage. My Ortho said the more you wear the elastics the faster your teeth will move but if I stopped wearing them for a few da...

I have been wearing the Damon's for almost a year and a half and for the first year my appointments were 6-8 weeks apart but since then they went down to 4 weeks apart as I am nearing the end of my treatment. I too pushed to go back sooner when I first got mine on and what happened was I went in and...

Thanks for all the advice. I really appreciate it. :D

I am still pretty nervous :? about getting them but feel better prepared now.

I am getting the elastics to help with my deep overbite and my overjet. So I have no idea what configuration the elastics will be in.

Wish me luck on Wednesday!!

I agree I think it all depends on what your Ortho is trying to accomplish.

I have been in braces for 17 months and am just getting elastics this week. The plan is to have them for 6 months to fix my bite and then be done. So each situation is unique.

Getting Elastics for the First Time-Need Advice

I have been wearing braces since Mar 07 and am getting elastics this Wednesday. I am really nervous as I have had relatively no pain up until this point but my Ortho said it will hurt when I have elastics. Do you find it hurts to have elastics in? Do they just hook on to the brackets or is there ano...

The time really does fly by after those first few weeks of adjusting.

I have 6-8 months left with braces and can't wait to get my debanding date!!

I am almost a year into wearing Damon brackets and rarely have any pain. After an adjustment my teeth are more sensitive and I feel pressure but that is it. If you are truly worried, you can always ask your Orthodontist. As for how fast they straightened, I think it depends on the individual. I coul...

Congratulations on having the wire move so much already!!

Personally, I wouldn't clip my wires but that is because of my fear of swallowing the little piece that comes off.
