I dont regret getting linguals... but looking back on it I do regret being so vain that I didn't save myself £3000 and get normal braces on the front! Speech was a problem at first but within a few months most people couldn't tell I was wearing them... and beleive me I talk to a LOT of people...

Hi Loulou, if you're 3 days in and your only worried about your speech then you're doing pretty well! Mine (upper and lower)were so painful after 3 days that I wanted them removing and a refund! Yes I did sound like Sylvester the cat for the first couple of months but it WILL get better and before y...

I had 2 elastics on one side and 1 on the right. Didn't have an issue wearing them as they actually made the brackets more comfortable on my tongue. You can't see them unless youre walking around with your mouth wide open all the time in which case people may think you have spaghetti stuck in your b...

Depends on the ortho I suppose but I had my reviews every 6 weeks without problems... although I was frequently returning (at least once a month at the start) for bits falling off/breaking! Pain isn't unusual at all as the braces are putting pressure on the teeth. I had a gap develop in my front upp...

Depends on how long you've had them on for I suppose, but I never had any problems. If I went on a date with somebody I just tended to say early on in the conversation "by the way, if you're wondering why i'm spitting all over you and lisping slightly, its because I have braces on my teeth"...

Hi loopyloo, I had a gap appear between 2 of my bottom front teeth. My ortho put a permanent elastic across the back of all of my bottom front teeth attached to each bracket. Not only did it pull the teeth back together, but it made the brackets for more comfortable on the tongue!

I don't really see how that would work. If u had braces fitted by one ortho and maintained by another, the 2nd ortho would need to have the treatment plan decided on by the 1st ortho. That would assume that the 2 orthos would be willing to cooperate in order to save you a few pounds... which they pr...

I think I only wore wax for a few days. Apart from the fact I found it almost impossible to get it to stay where I wanted it, the ortho told me that the more I wore it, the longer it would take for my tongue to get used to the brace being there. I had lots of ulcers to begin with but havent had any ...

In the UK my linguals are costing £7000. Normal braces would have been £2500. Well worth the extra money in my opinion! As has been said, pick an ortho close to home. Some weeks i've been in 3 times for bits falling off or breaking lol

Had my linguals on for 14 months now. For the first few months I sounded like Sylvester the Cat. People are surprised now when I tell them I have braces on (I usually tell them cos I tend to salivate a bit and spit on people when chatting I have found with the braces in). I ask them if they didnt no...

Well I had my screw fitted today in my gum. Ortho said it wouldn't hurt but he lied!!! I don't want that doing again. If he'd said it may hurt a bit i might have been prepared for it... but i wasn't expecing any pain so maybe thats why it hurt more. I can still feel it now 12 hours later. It's just ...

Rapidly approaching 2 weeks now... teeth are mostly fine. Just the odd bit of pain. Tried to chew something the day before yesterday (instead of gulping it down!) and pracctically ripped my tongue to shreds. :( Its so sore today. Worst it hs been so far. I thought its supposed to get better, not wor...

Its not the end of the wire as such, although that is a bit sharp. It's my tongue rubbing along the wire as I talk. It's like rubbing it along a wire cheese cutter!
