lip closure post-op

Hi there, I am 5 weeks post-op from a leforte 1 surgery. I had my maxilla advanced 3mm and brought down as I also had a slight open bite. I had a very positive story with the surgery - very happy with the results and no numbness :) My one complaint as of now is that I have to struggle to get full cl...

Hi there, I just had surgery 10 days ago for a class 3 malocculsion and I was nervous about the changes that my nose could have as I do not have a hooked nose and I didn't want it pointing up! My movement with my upper jaw was fairly small, 3mm forward and it was also brought down to close an open b...

Thanks for all the advice. Unfortuneately I have had a "minor setback" as my surgeon said on the phone today. This is a bit disgusting believe me I know, but I woke up with a pretty much white tongue today and I couldn't get it clean even with a tongue scrapper. I have been reading this bo...

sores inside my mouth are painful!

I am 8 days post-op and doing well. Though I feel like I have hit a bit of a plateau in recovery. My swelling seems to have remained the same for the past couple of days and my numbness too. I had my first little meltdown last night but I think I am over it. But the WORST part for me right now is de...

Good topic. I was thinking of this myself. I am 1 week post-op. Wahooo! And my surgeon says doing "better than average". Though I don't feel like I could right now, I am eager to get back into gym work-outs. I am thinking I will start around the 2 week mark with non-impact cardio like the ...

hey there, sorry to hear about your skin issues...how annoying for you. Hopefully it will just pass. I had a very similar operation as yours and am now on day 4 post-op. My biggest annoyances right now is that I sound so odd when I talk and I can't really smile. I think this is due to numbness in my...

Surgery Friday Oct. 19!!

So my big day is finally here! I feel like I have been waiting for so long but the last few weeks have just flown by and I am a bit nervous. I am having segmented Leforte 1 to widen, advance and bring down my upper jaw. He said the movement forward will be about 3mm. I am also having genioplasty to ...

You Look Great! I am having the same surgery done on Oct. 19. My upper jaw is being brought forward 3mm and down slightly as I have an open bite. I am also getting genio to reduce my chin length. Just wondering, why do you having to wear the bandage on your chin if all of the incisions are internal?...

Surgical Hooks

I am just wondering what the surgical hooks are that the orthodontist puts on prior to the surgery? He said they are not all that comfortable and am now wondering if they are big and bulky. Which teeth are they usuallly on? I am getting them on a week before my surgery in October and am planning a s...

Hi There, I have a very similar bite to yours - A class III "end on end" bite. Not horrible, but very bothersome. I had braces about 15 years ago to fix the problem. And over the years, the problem slowly crept back. So that I was finding myself at 29 years old with a worse bite than befor...

So good to hear that you are doing well Arianna! I am having a similar surgery in October so I really appreciate your posts. I hope your recovery continues to go well :) Sounds like you are definitely on the road to recovery. Slow but steady.
