While I never changed my brackets during treatment I was told that the metal brackets would speed up my treatment which is part of the reason I went with all metal.
Edit: I don't have Damon brackets, mine are the Speed System brackets which are self litigating just like the Damons.

Quote: I have heard that getting your lips around the brackets get easier as your teeth align in to the proper position- hope they're right! Reply quote: I can almost promise you it will. My orthodontist told me that the process of alignment would both make closing my lips easier and also gradually...

The reason I actually got braces was to correct my lip strain -- when my face is relaxed, my lips don't cover my teeth all the way (I have a bimaxillary protrusion). I was dismayed that when I got braces, my lip strain was actually a little worse with the brackets and all! In repose, my top teeth s...

In my case I am using the Speed System. If you go to their website you can actually find a testimonial from my orthodontist, Rob Tocchio. This nance appliance is still driving me crazy, the only thing my ortho told me was that it wouldn't be in for the entire duration of treatment, which is the only...

I got Speed brackets put on and a nance appliance. I like the brackets, they are small and feel fairly comfortable. The nance appliance is driving me insane, it is so hard to talk with it in, how long did those who had to wear one wait until it came off?

Overbite/overjet Extractions
When correcting an overbite/overjet (upper lateral incisors in an anterior position to the lower with protrusion) why would the orthodontist opt to extract 4 second bicuspids rather than just the 2 up top?

Thanks for the replies, The weak chin is an 'illusion' caused by an overbite and overjet, I assumed once the teeth are pulled back and the top lip relaxes this would bring my mouth into a more harmonious allignment with the rest of my face. Anyone ever hear of a shallowbite though? In all the dental...

Shallowbite? Treatment ?'s
My ortho characterized my bite as having proclined upper incisors, reclined lower incisors, both with moderate crowding, a 7mm shallow bite (never heard of that), overbite with a slight deepbite tendancy. When I shift my lower jaw forward my front teeth dont touch my bottom teeth so I don't see how ...
