Distraction osteogenesis

Has anyone had this type of "surgery?" This may be part of my treatment and I am just trying to do some research. I would like to hear from someone who has had success using Distraction Osteogenesis. More Info: http://www.oraldistraction.com/

I sympathize with you. I am interested in this as well. Do people have a higher self esteem and experience mental health changes for the better after surgery?

Just a few questions...

In a couple months I will be ready to undergo surgery, specifically a Le Forte I osteotomy, to correct both a horizontal and vertical maxillary deficiency. This should effectively move my upper jaw forward and down. You can't see my teeth with a normal smile. I also have a minimal under bite due to ...

I wouldn't recommend this. The standards overseas (including Mexico/Brazil/etc.) are extremely lacking compared to the US. I was watching Oprah or a similar show, I can't remember which, and it was about people who were significantly unsatisfied with their results. One patient went to Mexico to get ...

I am in the same boat as you. I am completely self conscience about my teeth and bite as well, it's agonizing. No one in my family can feel the pain that I have about it. I have decided for myself that I am going to do what makes me happy and benefits my life, regardless of what others may say. As f...

According to this study, there have been reports of vision loss and even blindness as a result of having a Leforte I Osteotomy. Has anyone experienced this side effect? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/quer ... t=Abstract

When I was 13, x-rays from my dentist revealed that my 2 upper canines (teeth 6 & 11?) were impacted, I was then referred to an orthodontist. Aside from this issue, my teeth and jaws were cosmetically and otherwise adequate. Under orders from my orthodontists, I had surgery to attach a chain to ...
