Thanks! I feel much better now. Happily chewing away! And I have to say, I missed fresh veggies when I wasn't allowed to chew. It was like the beginnings of scurvy or something!

Just the other day I rediscovered my french truffles at the local grocery store.... :D

Hi there! I have two impacted canines that are working their way out (hopefully). Mine had real dense bone grown all around them. The surgeon cut the bone out, and exposed the teeth (they're there, I can see them!!). Mine are not in a good spot or a good position. Hopefully they do ok. At my request...

Wow, that's awesome! And encouraging too! I'm hoping like crazy mine goes that way... although I've already been told differently. According to my surgeon, it's going to be a difficult move. I am however, very proud that my surgeon told my ortho that my surgery was the most difficult thing he's ever...

I've found that so far, spacers have been the most painful for me. The assistant cut my gums going in (put them in with pliers). When I went to get bands fitted for my teeth, they had to remove them and put them back in. Miraculously I wanted them back in after feeling the gap in between my teeth. K...

Hmm, while I thought this was something else, that's an interesting situation. I just got chains hooked up to my impacted teeth, and tethered onto my Nance appliance. I was so frustrated yesterday because I couldn't stop playing with it with my tongue. Rubbed my tongue raw. It was so impossible to s...

I think you can definately clench or grind your teeth without noticing. Even while you're awake, but definately at night. It doesn't take much of a clench to put a lot of pressure on your teeth and jaw joint. Those muscles are incredibly strong. Maybe someone can come up with the number, but you put...

Being as I'm new to this and have yet to learn valuable lessons about why we don't eat certain things (besides my ramen noodle lesson), what about sunflower seeds? One of you mentioned it. Or am I going to get them stuck places?

It definately is difficult to eat what wont hit the roof of my mouth... being as that's a major part of chewing. I think this is some sort of joke by my surgeon, being as the last thing I remember before he put me to sleep was me saying something about dragging him down the hill (he made a comment a...

I can see what you mean about the losing weight. My teeth have been tender enough that even soft foods are way too painful to eat. But I guess everyone is different. And the not snacking can be a good thing too. However, Meryaten is right and you need to make sure you're getting the right nutrition,...

I've run into the same problems with my Nance appliance. To give me some credit, my lovely Nance is much more complicated than the ones I find pictures of on the internet. This thing is like a basket at the roof of my mouth. Although I doubt it's as terrible as your expander. I find it odd how fluid...

Hello everyone!

So I'm new here! I was searching the web for info on braces and came across this site. I love it! Here's my mouth story in a nutshell: Huge TMJ issues (when life gets a little too stressful I can't even chew scrambled eggs). So I went to the ortho who did a full workup on my mouth. My bite is horrib...
