Hi, I met several ortho, and it ranged from basically most saying pull 4 teeth, one guy who even suggested lower jaw surgery, to the guy I plan to go with (no extractions, expander, slenderizing teeth). My opinion is don't have your teeth pulled, once they're out you can't put them back in! You can ...

"Six month braces"
Does anyone know anything about these? Is it right that this system aims for a nice aesthetic but doesn't really work to achieve a good bite? Although my proposed ortho doesn't call them that, his treatment plan sounds very similar. I.e. arch expansion upper, slenderising on crowded lower. 6 month f...

If he said you're borderline for extractions, don't have them would be my suggestion (even if he comes back and says after all, let's pull them)! You can always have teeth taken out but not put back in! If he said your borderline, there will be another guy willing to do the job without extractions (...

Tooth slenderising - increased sensitivity?
My ortho has included this as part of the treatment plan. Basically because my mouth is crowded and it's the alternative to having teeth pulled. On that basis it seems the better option. Has anyone here had it done, and what were your results? Mainly I'm concerned I'll end up with sensitive teeth an...

How bad is your occlusion now? Does it affect the way you chew or position your jaw? Will it cause problems such as TMD in the future? Does it need to be fixed?? Perhaps your case can be considered purely cosmetic. If your occlusion is not bad enough to affect your mouth, straightening the teeth ma...

Wildly different treatment plans - what do you think?
OK, so I have basically crowded upper and lower (lower is worse). My bite is actually OK, but I'd like my teeth straight. Now, I have visited four orthos. Every one except one has said they would pull 4 teeth (the usual 4) and slap braces on for 12+ mths. Except ONE! He said he will use an expander ...
