I agree that kids seem to find braces 'cool' no matter the age of the wearer so I wouldn't worry about what you students will think. it may be a good idea to have them fitted on a friday so that you have the weekend to get over the initial discomfort and get some speaking practice before going in fr...

for me flossing is one of the benefits of braces as my teeth were such before that flossing was incredibly difficult and it was not uncommon for the floss to break during the exercise. HOwever about 4 weeks post braces my teeth began to move and now i can floss easily between every two teeth.

everyone is different and people are in braces for various reasons. I have crowding and I am in my forties and this is my first time in braces. Whilst my teeth have never been perfect in that I have always had one front tooth slightly turned, over time more teeth began to turn and come closer togeth...

Question for those in braces for 2nd time

Hi, For those who are in braces for the 2nd or more time/s, why is this? I'm wondering if being in braces more thanonce during your life is usual or if there is another reason. For instance a person I know says that she is in braces again at 20 as she had them at age 8 the first time and this was to...

Braced March 2007 with August 2007 photo update

Here is a photo taken 4 August , two weeks after my last adjustment. I think my teeth are looking fantastic. The wire change and joined elastics have made things move again which makes me very happy and I no longer have that tooth at the front which literally felt stuck for about 2 months. http://im...

Had my 4 adjustment today. All went well. For the bottom I have one tooth that is not keeping pace with the others. Once it turns completely to the right place then I can have my finishing wire installed. I did make good progress since the last adjustment so I am hoping that the same amount of progr...

I think you have great results with a beautiful arch. For me the best thing about having a proper rounded arch [ well I have one on the bottom only at this stage] is that it is so much easier to clean my teeth and flossing is an absolute breeze - even with the braces still on, so it can only get bet...

KK, I agree the arch isn't yet perfect. The problem seems to be the teeth that are crossed are stuck. I keep photos each week and for the past 8 weeks they have not moved from the position you see above. To me it seems that the troublesome three need a helping hand to separate so that they can move ...

Thought it time I posted some updated pictures. These were taken this afternoon. As you can see the ligs are stained yet again. I find that they start to stain at about week 3 and by week 5 (current) I don't want to smile as to me it looks as though I don't take care of my teeth which isn't true as ...

Hi Mark, I can empathise with people taking a step back, it happened to me again this week when I met someone new at work. I find that after a while they get used to the look and don't stare any more. Age seems to be a huge factor, I find older people even in my own age bracket (40's) seem the most ...
