I was in regular 3M brand brackets, the ones that ligate with o-rings, for 8 months and recently got Damon 3s. I've been in Damon 3s now for 2 months. (Just fyi, it was because I'm in the Army and an Army orthodontist was doing my braces for free under Army healthcare with the regular brackets. I mo...

I'd be interested in buying some, regardless if it was more expensive or not.

I can't help but feel weird... I got my braces (uppers only) yesterday, and I'm sitting here chowing down on some fries and a grilled cheese sandwich just fine. Just have to chew... softly? Can't just chomp into stuff. But, I'm eating what I want. And no, I didn't cut any of it up. :D I know pain is...

Being in the US Army, it's totally free for us to get braces. I have two guys I work with that are in braces, and it always blew me away how they were still professionals in their own right, but with braces. Both of them are going to have to have jaw surgery. After watching them for a while, and rea...

Movement does happen relatively quickly for sure, because currently, only my two front teeth are braced together to close the gap there so that the other teeth can be properly aligned. My two front teeth were braced, and two weeks from doing that, I get the rest of the wire in place because by then....

hi Gap bonded upper and lower 6/6 means that you are getting your front 12 teeth on the top bonded and front 12 teeth on the bottom. If you are counting on your top teeth starting on the front right tooth and count back to the sixth tooth, that is 6. And it goes to your second molar. so 6+6+6+6=24 ...

Thanks Jenn and KK :) I guess I need to start being more nosy, I just feel like I'm imposing somehow...? I don't know, I'll definitely be a lot more questioning when I get braced up next Tuesday. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding the ortho lingo right so I know a little of what to expec...

Oh! Well, now I know what a class III is. I searched high and low, and finally found this: http://www.unc.edu/depts/appl_sci/ortho/introduction/angles.html. I find it interesting because although I have an 'underbite' (front top molar behind bottom lower molar), my front top teeth actually go over m...

Upper 6/lower 6?

I had my second pre-braces appointment today (made casts, x-rays, all sorts of fun stuff - I didn't need spacers, woo!). I feel less inclined to ask my ortho stuff about my treatment, I think, because he's a colonel in the Army (he outranks me just a little , heh), so I hope you all can answer just ...

I just read on this website that chemotherapy (and other cancer, etc drugs) can actually cause mouth sores. So, I'm thinking that with those meds, you get mouth sores, and with braces, you get mouth sores... so you're agitating a problem on top of a problem, and with the reduced/absent immune system...

I grind almost constantly. Dentists say I haven't done any damage to my teeth, so I must not be doing it hard... but I grind in my sleep, and my jaw and neck muscles, etc. aren't ever sore when I wake up. I catch myself grinding throughout the day, so I make sure to chew gum to cushion it a bit. It'...

Here goes nothing! Gap away!

Hello. :) I've been lurking on these boards ever since I found out on the 26th of March (at 11:00 am) that I'm going to get braces. I'll never forget that date and time, because I'm so absolutely thrilled that I finally get to do this! Like many of you, I'm an adult (23 years old), and I have always...
