I'm not sure why all of a suddent I have this much pain, the only thing I can think of is if the nerv...

bite before and after
Here's one pic I havn't shown yet- MY BITE! My digital cam is out of batteries for the 'after shot' so I had to use the bad webcam...I am going to replace this blurry picture a.s.a.p! But you can still see a change even with the blurryness. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s142/kate0310/bitebefore...

Day 15 http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s142/kate0310/2wkspostop.jpg Here's an updated profile picture. I know Im putting the pics up fairly regularly compared to most- but it might be nice for some people to see the gradual changes, and how it does all happen quite slowly in reality- with swelli...

hooks
good luck both of you with your upcoming appointments and surgeries! Just a tad of advice: save some wax for after your surgery. My hooks didnt bother me at all before hand, but now 2 weeks post-op my mouth has become torn apart (im sure the skin is just more sensitive) and I could reallllly use som...

Day 13
Day 13 Just got back from my suregon's office. He had originally said that today I would be getting elastics on, but he said my bite looked really good so he will see how things are next week- and so I remain Elastic Free I got the 'ok' to remove the 30 degree sleeping angle...how exciting!! (its t...

frustrations
Yarr- Your frustrations are completely understandable. (you did not hijack my thread, its a thread about post-op experiences and what you have to say is equally valuable to other people- so I appreciate what youve written) I think its too soon for both of us to panic about our new bites- we still ha...

TMJ issues
Hi Ryan, I have some similarities in my jaw to what you described. I've been searching through my desk to find my official report, but its burried deep somewhere so I'll keep looking because its quite good. I have condylar hyperplasia as well, and TMJ issues. I had surgery just over a week ago for u...

day 11
Day 11: Your probably right about the headaches changing once elastics are in. I woke up today with my jaw aching more than the last few days...but nothing bad, just noticably more. Perhaps I held it funny in my sleep... I also noticed that my teeth are sore. I'm not sure why they would be sore, bu...

no splint
I didnt have anything in my mouth when I woke up at the hospital, not even elastics. It was strange. next Tuesday I am getting some elastics put on by my surgeon, ones that I can take out when I eat. I'm sure my muscles are trying to drag my jaw back to its old spot, so we need to counterbalance tha...

Day 10 Yarr- my upper lip is muchhh more tender than my lower one. My surgeon said that's normal (not sure why?). As for jaw exersizes- I see my surgeon in 3 days for him to put elastics on and im going to ask him how much my jaw should be moving right now. Not being banded or anything- it's a bit ...

protein powder
Piner, have you been putting protein powder in your shakes? It adds a ton of calories to them. I've also been using soy milk (if you dont mind the taste) which is thicker and more calories...and I havnt lost a pound yet. Just a thought. My prom is in 4 weeks too...except I need to lose weight for mi...

glad your doing well
Arianna- Congrats on making it to the otherside! Sounds like your taking it all in stride and doing amazingly! Once you get past the next 3-4 days you are going to be feeling good. Can you notice the changes in your face already, since your not very swollen? I could notice my new chin fairly soon af...

time off
Genevieve- I originally said 4 week for how long I would be off school. THe first week is definately a complete write-off, and the I would say the second one should be too because you want to recover properly from something like this. I'm feeling good on Day 9, and if I didnt have the headaches whic...

Day 9
So its Day 9 now, I'm still on the good recovery path. Today I switched from Torodol to Advil for a bit lighter painkiller so we'll see how that goes. Im still not sleeping well...but kinda used to it. Ive been going on short walks- and I get a killer headache after each one. Annoying! But otherwise...
