nose

ohmyjaw- ohh good! not that I'm glad you've had nose troubles too, but I'm glad I'm not alone on it. My left nostril remains more swollen, and yes I can relate to that painful stretching feeling. Ive been poking around a bit to try and feel the plates and screws, no luck yet but maybe once a bit mor...

famous nose

yeaaa man my nose has not been nice to me during this- but its so weird because the one thing that I NEVER had was breathing troubles...i find that strange... NO congestion, no oxygen issues- yet the most painful nose. All the bones underneath feel so broken and the bone beneath my upper lip and tha...

Im 6 weeks post-op, from BSSO, Lefort 1, and Genio- and ive only been eating non-liquids for a week...and I didn't lose any weight. I even WANTED to and I didnt. Its not hard to get the nutrition if you do a bit of planning beforehand of your groceries. I maybe lost 2-3 pounds at one point, and I've...

Thanks for the intro Meryaten! 8) ahh yes, the pain. I did experience pain, but it wasn't nearly bad enough to ever make me reconsider the surgery. You have it, you just deal with it, and eventually it subsides. Don't let it scare you out of doing this- there are many many important factors to consi...

wired shut

I'm reallly sorry to hear about being wired shut! It probably doesn't feel like it- but time is going to fly by. I rememer days 3, 4, and 5 I felt like i was counting the minutes ticking away like when will this ever end...and then BAM suddenly I was at 6 weeks post-op and it's all a memory now. Eve...

brandy

Brandy! Congrat's on making it through. Thats wonderful news about the feeling in your face! As I type your face is likely becoming a little balloon (Day 2 thrills!)- but so far the swelling looks quite minimal so hopefully it will stay that way. Just keep the end result in sight, and before you kno...

numbess

I'm not much help because I'm only 6 weeks Post-op- but I had BSSO, Lefort I, and genio so I'll keep you updated on my numbness. My cheeks have got lots of feeling back, but the chin and lips are still very numb. It's early on for me though, so not worried yet.

I wouldn't count it out yet either. Two points: 1) I decided 5 minutes before they put my IV in that I wanted the chin- because as I was lying on the operating table it hit me that this was going to be a big deal and I might as well just go for it all while I'm gonna be miserable anyway and get the ...

I think my genio was covered 75% by the government under some "disability insurance" and it was $1500 CND dollars.

not a surgery freak

just imagine the poor people who get loose screws or infections and need the metal taken out....now THAT would suck! and even they get through it fine in the end too. Yea I guess it would be hard to get the painkiller from him now. Mine offered to prescribe me a sleeping pill last week, but I said I...

Hi Mariana, I just read your blog, and you recovery sounds VERY similar to mine- the closest I have found yet to what mine felt like. It was frusterating to keep reading about people who had such an easy time with it and I kept wondering if my pain wasnt real because I felt like I shouldn't be in pa...
