reatiners

THanks you guys! I got lucky with the retainer- and they just put in two permanent ones, behind my front top and bottom teeth. THe top one has given me a temporary lisp, and its a lifetime of annoying flossing but otherwise they are fine. And my bite feels good- I can tell its not perfect because I ...

I'm guessing you have chosen Vancouver as it's closer to where you are in the States? I'm in Toronto, Canada and had an amazing surgeon - but I don't know anyone out of the province! Good Luck on your search.

BRACES OFF!!! (after upper/lower/genio)

Hi Everyone! Well just before Xmas i got the BEST present - my debracing, which has been 10.5 years in the works! For those of you unfamiliar with my surgery, here are the links: (post-op) http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=18335&highlight= (6 month report) http://www.archwired.com/...

swelling

I agree that the first 3 weeks, the bulk of the swelling subsides. However, I'm six months and I was just looking in the mirror and I'm definitely still swollen- but literally to a point thats barely noticable to anyone but my nearest and dearest. I was told 1 year if you've had upper and lower for ...

6 Months Post Op- after Upper/Lower Jaw and Genio

Hi Everyone! So it's been exactly 6 months since my Upper/Lower Jaw and Genioplasty surgery and I just wanted to give a little update. I am still braced, but my surgeon thinks that everything looks wonderful. He said if it were up to him he would just take my braces off, but my orthodontist still se...

nose changes

Hi There, From what I can tell from my upper/lower surgery, there is a very very slight change in my nose- the tip is every so slightly tipped up more and my nostrils have widened a tiny bit. I dont think the movement in my upper jaw was very drastic, so perhaps more change would occur if it was mov...

Ok so it's been a little while since I last wrote... But I am now 11wks : This week I saw both my otho and surgeon again. My ortho was VERY pleased at my elastic wearing and said "I can tell you want these braces off fast"...but with her theres no such luck anyway so I think its going to b...

getting sympath

I agree, its all about the phrasing and spicing it up. Say you have "a partly prosthetic jaw" - so far I've gotten the greatest reaction out of that one- a real face squirmer.

Embellish, elaborate, choose your adjectives and nouns carefully- and you will get what your looking for :)

re-chop

you are taking this all like a champ I must say!!! I guess just focus on the bigger life picture, a wonky bite isnt the be all end all- and you will go on to do great thinks with your not-so-perfect bite! I can't imagine going back for surgery again, so you deserve a trohpy or something. If it makes...

gum graft

YUP! I had to have mine done before braces, and I agree....they are UGLY. I found the surgery quite traumatizing actually, having to be awake and aware of things going on for 1.5 hours while they are completely cutting you apart...not cool at all. If I ever have to have another, they will have to gi...

answer to b

hi there, for your question b) about getting hit after surgery, my surgeon told me that at 3 months post-op you should be able to take a solid hit to the face without damage if your bones are in normal condition. I have to wait 3 months before I can get back on my horse, because he said if I fell of...

ice cube test

P.s. As a little numbness test, I just put an icecube in my mouth, and I can feel the cold on my left side, but not my right yet.

8 weeks

8 Weeks Feeling much better since my last post- Yesterday was FINALLY less painful, and today was great. First day off Advil in a LONG time. I had an emergency ortho appt. 2 days ago because the whole band around my top molar came off, and it holds one of my elastics. So I had wire jabbing into me ...
