Annoying

I've been in braces for almost 4 weeks now, and I've never experienced any actual pain, some tenderness in my teeth, but nothing to stop me from eating. Today, for the first time, I actually felt like they were'nt a foreign object in my mouth, well, for a short time. I guess it will get better with ...

Whoops!

I posted to the wrong page! Hope the info I gave will still be beneficial. Yes, drink lots of water, it's great for your mouth and your entire body. I've found that most of the prominent lip care products are crap. I recently took a chance and purchased an inexpensive pack of lip balms from good old...

Chapped Lips

I was braced a little over two weeks ago and found this great lip balm at good old Walmart. It's called Nature's Lipcare and made by Back2Basics. You get a four pack really cheap and the stuff is amazing, my lips have healed and are soft and smooth. I thought I was taking a chance buying them since ...

Waterpik!

I've been braced for two weeks now and starting to get used to them, barely. The waterpik is my last step in cleaning and really makes my mouth feel truly clean. I've always hated having food between my teeth so I'm a fanatic about getting rid of it, I have always carried toothpicks, now I cart flos...

Food!!!!

I love mexican food and have found that enchiladas are really easy to eat early in braces treatment. As time goes by, and I've only been in braces for two weeks, lot's of things are easier to eat. Patience and chew carefully are great advice. This forum has helped me alot. Good luck!

Slurring!

I've had my braces now for 1 week and continue to slur when I talk. Granted, it's not just the braces, I have two bite turbos behind my front teeth to help correct my bite. I'm tired of sounding like Sylvester the cat. How long will this last? Or am I just doomed to sounding silly for the duration o...

Hi Graceful!

I'm 48 and had my braces put on two days ago. I went to work today and no one even noticed, but they noticed my brand new tennis shoes! I have very little pain, just a few mouth sores, dental wax is my friend. I wanted Invisilign too, but my bite is way too off for it to work without a lot of hassle...

Braced as of Yesterday

I have clear braces top and bottom and bite turbos behind my two front teeth. The turbos are annoying but are there to help correct my slight overbite and keep from damaging the lower brackets. I'm feeling pretty amazed, I've had no major pain and don't really even feel pressure. The only annoyances...

Kate, Almost there...

After 40 years I'm finally going to do it, on April 19th I will be having braces put on. I'm a bit apphrensive, and a bit excited about it, but really appreciate this website and the info I've received. I've already purchased a Dentakit, lip protectors and a waterpik so I'm trying to be prepared. He...
