Thank you so much for your advice!! I am still more swollen both inside and out. I do not have a fever and I just got cleared for soft chew and I may have been pushing things a little too far too fast with the chewing (I was desperate!! :P ) Also, I have relatives in town so I've been talking a lot!...

Swelling going back up!!

and of course this happens on a holiday weekend so I can't get ahold of my surgeon! Last night my jaw started to hurt a little bit more than it has been (I'm 17 days post-op) and I went and looked in the mirror and I'm swollen up again. I have been consistently getting less swollen for about a week ...

My surgeon's policy is:

1 jaw= 1 night in the hospital

2 jaws = 2 nights in the hospital

Genio does not add any hospital time either way!

OneGuy...I had my braces put on around 18 months before my surgery. My ortho says that I will have them anywhere from 4-8 months after. As far as my bite, I had a very deep bite and a large overjet. However, I had braces before in high school so as far as alignment my teeth were relatively straight ...

Good luck!

Ok I can now feel my bottom front teeth! Still no feeling in my lip or chin, but my bottom teeth hurt now and now I'm trying to find a comfortable biting position. My mouth is all wierded out about my new bite....my jaw doesn't know where to go. The strange thing is this wasn't a problem until last ...

:D I should clarify that I have to stack my three pillows a certain way in order to sleep on my side...but I am sleeping so much better now that I'm not on my back. I have one really squishy pillow that I use to kind of frame my jaw so there's not so much pressure on it.

Thanks guys!! I did not take any supplements before the surgery and the numbness is not going away yet, BUT sometimes my whole lip kind of burns (but kind of on the inside...hard to describe) and my lip and chin tingle a lot. I still can't feel anything at all when I touch them though. Soon I will.....

I am covered by BCBS of Alabama, and they are covering my surgery. I have a PPO but I'm not sure if it is a 579...It says plan 510 on my card. I'm not sure what that means. Anyway, I will probably only have lower surgery but they approved for upper and lower. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need...
