I've been sticking my lower chin out for so long that I created some major TMJ issues. That pretty much sums up my story. Are your doctors confident your TMJ issues will be resolved soon after the surgery? Mine say it's my best chance of healing but I don't really get the impression they are confid...

I was wondering this too. Seems like a whole lot of trouble for something that may not even help. Anyone else found ortho surgery helpful in reducing pain associated with TMJ?

That's strange... my surgeon is removing my wisdom teeth (all 3 of them) and doing my jaw all in the same operation.

TMJ disorder and dark circles under eyes

Can anyone confirm a link between temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) disorder and 'shiners' under the eyes? I found a few websites that seem to suggest they are related. If so, has anyone notice their dark circles disappear after treatment for TMJ (ortho surgery, using a mouth splint, etc). Thanks very ...

Pk-girl - when you say you had drains coming out of your cheeks, do you mean from holes in your cheeks (not your mouth)? If so, is this a common experience for people? I thought all the incisions were made internally...
