Yesterday was my one year anniversary!

I have officially had my braces on for a year. I can't believe it has gone by so fast. I have seen tons of progress, and can't wait to see what the finished product will be! I have trouble taking pictures of my teeth, but I am getting my "finishing x-rays" done at my next adjustment in May...

I have the exact opposite problem. I got married in July '06 and braces on in April '07. I had an overjet at the time of my wedding, and in almost every picture I look at, all I can see is my overjet. :( Many of you would think I was crazy if you saw my pictures, as most of my family does, but I hat...

I have a very noticable elastic configuration (2 upside down triangles on each side) and I only take them out to eat and brush my teeth. However, I did take them out for my brother's wedding, as I did not want them to be seen in pictures. Let me tell you, it hurt that evening to put them back in! I ...

6 month update! Haven't been here in a while!

Hey all, I haven't been here since my quad-helix drama nearly 5 months ago, but I wanted to stop by and update on my journey. I was braced April 5, 2007 with Damon upper and lowers, and got a quad helix two weeks later. I had the quad helix removed 5 days later due to a problem with geographic tongu...

I am the Matron of Honor in my brother's wedding this December, and I am most definitely leaving my braces on. Honestly, all eyes will be on the bride and groom. I doubt anyone will even notice. My brother actually loves that I have braces b/c he is going to ortho school in a year. So I consider it ...

Oh, and yes, I did have a tongue imprint. Mine was excessive because of the geographic tongue. My bro, who is a dentist, looked at it and said it was definitely not normal. :) Hope your's isn't so bad.

Good luck with your Quad Helix. I posted below that I just had to get mine taken it out, but it was due to my geographic tongue, not the pain of the quad helix itself. My problem was that my tongue would bleed when I tried to swallow, and it was also very swollen, so I would get choked on water and ...

26, Female, Oklahoma This is my second time in braces. I had a quad-helix type expander when I was 8, and I wore braces for a little under 2 years in middle school, wore my retainers diligently for ten years, and then lost the retainers when I moved. I didn't get them replaced, and within 2 years, m...

Anyone with a removable expander?

Just wanting to hear from any of you that have had a removable expander. Experiences? Complaints? I just got a fixed one removed due to swallowing/tongue problems and would like to hear from you all. I already have top and bottom braces (clarity on top/unit on bottom). I thought they were Damon, but...

Just an update..

I called my ortho today and he got me in immediately. He took a look at it and decided to take it out completely. He is going to make me a different expander (I think it is removable) for my next appointment. Thanks for the responses!

I honestly don't think I can take this one more second. I want to rip this dang thing out of my mouth!! I am calling my ortho tomorrow so we can talk about other alternatives. I did not sign up for this torture!! I sound like a baby, I know, but I can't even drink water b/c every time I do, my tongu...

I'm paying $3800 for Damon's (ceramic on top, metal on bottom) and a quad helix expander. No insurance as I am too old. It worked out to be approximately $750 down payment with a monthly payment of $170 a month for 18 months. I'm pretty sure I got a student discount. :)

Quad Helix... Please Help!

Hi all, I am a newbie and I just recently received upper and lower Damon braces (4-5-07) and received my quad helix last Thursday (4-12). I am having so many problems with it! It has been 4 days and my tongue is torn up and I still can't swallow. I also have geographic tongue, and I think the quad h...
